Friday DE

It’s Friday! And if it’s not the soon-to-be weekend for you, I hope the days until your weekend pass quickly and you have a long feeling weekend.

So today’s topic, what odd for you character have you had the thought to play? Or have you played them somewhere?

Latest odd ball pup idea/urge was Velma Dinkley, from Scooby Doo. I don't know why and I haven't acted on it.

All of my pups have been perfectly normal.

There's a reason I said "odd for you". = )

Keita Mori, from 'Watchmaker of Filigree Street' and to a lesser extent from 'Bedlam Stacks' (and there is going to be a sequel to Watchmaker \o/). He is way more calculating and withdrawn than what I tend to play.
aberration: Hera from Star Wars Rebels high-fiving Chopper (high five!)

I'm not really sure what I'd consider "odd for me," as while I like certain things, I don't feel like I have a character "type." I was thinking I hadn't played a villain, but then I remembered Elle... whom I think counts enough. And any reluctance to play a villain in game is I think just me feeling like they can be difficult to play in-bar. So, idk, I'm open to suggestions!

The Pirate King, not a lot of backstory or logic or much to his canon other than glorious music and Kevin Kline being Kevin Kline. I think that's why he didn't last that long for me, very much one of my guest starring characters.

Bertie Wooster.

He was really fun to play! But such a difficult headspace for me to get into.

Wolfgang from Don't Starve is playing against type for me (here in particular, my type as of pups #3 and #4 is "gender-atypical, nonhuman, and from web media: pick two", apparently) but I've done well with him on a DST RP server, I just don't think he'd work here because I'd have to do his backstory properly instead of a semi-researched slapdash and the translation field would play merry hell with his speech patterns.

I play so many characters elsewhere. I suppose the most odd character I've ever played was Road Runner. Somehow it worked!

Absurdist characters are hard for me. I've tried Bender from Futurama once, and Brak from Space Ghost Coast 2 Coast/the Brak Show. They're fun, but hard to sustain.

I have a hard time with villains, too. I've tried Jim Moriarty (no shade on the current Jim-mun; they're doing an excellent job) and Dracula, and probably some others I've forgotten. One or two EPs and you realize, yeah, this isn't a headspace I can keep going.
