Friday DE
Woot, it’s almost the weekend! Of course tomorrow isn’t a relax day for me but whatever.
Lets talk tattoos today. Does your pup(s) have any? What are they? If they don’t, would they get one(s)? Tell us about it.
ETA: Is there a tattoo you'd give them that they'd never get themselves? Or is there a tattoo you'd get that'd be inspired by them?

Sabine: Canonically, she cannot commit to a tattoo. She's not opposed to the idea, just the permanence; art is a fluid thing for her. I can see her doing temporary dyes to emulate tattoos though and here are some ideas she's sketched out. I could also see her getting a tattoo of either an Aurebesh or Mando'a number 5 or her starbird symbol.
I've thought about getting her starbird as a tattoo myself but I am still deciding on where and what design. For a bit I was thinking of combining it with Kelly Sue deConnik's non-compliant symbol from Bitch Planet, but I worry it might be appropriative.
More later maybe. I need to start work.

With Fairy Fixit, its hard to say. Nothing tattoo-like is visible, but who knows what might be under her clothes. Then again, who could tell the difference between tattoos and natural coloration/patterning anyhow? She is very not human after all, she isn't even mammalian.

Even though I've more or less gone AU at this point, after he was retconned spectacularly, I still think I'm going to stick with no. At this point, he's grown up and settled down too much, and wouldn't see the point. That said, I think if things had gone differently for him in high school, he probably would have wound up with at least a partial sleeve by the time he was done with college. But as someone who does have a bunch of tattoos, that shit's expensive, and his all or nothing attitude toward life in general meant he never let his friends with tattoo guns practise on him. He'd either pay for someone to do it well, or not bother at all.

Zecora: No, just her cutie mark. Not sure how that'd work with a furred species anyway. (Though I'm sure she can make some quality fur dyes.)
Me: Bees! So far, six bees (all drawn by Shaenon Garrity) scattered about my person, one of which is perched on the rim of a teacup. I have gotten a couple more drawn but not yet tattooed, one by Shazzbaa, one by Rebecca freakin' Sugar, and Leesha has offered to do me one as well. Guest bees!

Logan can't because of his healing factor, which makes me think Barry probably can't, either. His healing abilities aren't as hardcore as Logan, but they're good enough that he doesn't scar so I'm assuming that leaves out tattoos as well.
Cisco would never let anyone come at him with a needle like that, and certainly wouldn't sit still long enough for it to get done.
Matt is a hard NO.
The closest to having any are Kay and Hellboy. Kay has decals marking him as an Imperial droid, great for infiltrating places, and Hellboy has the rune markings for the Anung Un Rama thing, but those came with him, he didn't add them himself.
I think a tattoo might be cool, but there's probably no way I'd ever decide on one, and my fear it chickening out halfway through and having a blob that isn't what I wanted at all, but being unable to finish it. Needles can be scary, okay?!

Adrian Shephard does, a Marine Corps bulldog emblem on his left arm near the shoulder.
Stacker Pentecost doesn't but he's got burn scars in the shape of circuit lines from being the only person operating his Jaeger for hours the day his partner collapsed. He doesn't need ink.
Varric, Quicksilver, and Santo don't have any.
ETA: I wouldn't feel comfortable getting a fandom tattoo, to be honest. Even if it were inspired solely and purely by my character's IC actions at Milliways rather than base canon, I'd be afraid of it winding up like what happened with my Brotherhood of Steel poster... I have a print I got from Bethesda a few years ago of armored Brotherhood soldiers doing the Iwo Jima flag thing, with lots of dead mutants and such in the area. I have never put it up anywhere, because I take forever to get my art framed and hung up, and by the time I was prepared to do so Fallout 4 had come out and Bethesda had completely shit all over any measure of goodwill the Brotherhood could have expected from me by turning them into a messianic cult of genocidal Arthur Maxson worshippers. The Lyons Brotherhood was canonically dismissed and the more restrictive/original-type Brotherhood shown in Fallout New Vegas was nowhere to be found; I couldn't bring myself to hang that thing on the wall because canon had made it worse than meaningless. If I got a tattoo inspired by a canon character, even if it was based on their Milliways activity, I'd be afraid that some time afterwards some new idiot would come along and completely change everything good about that character's canon and then I"d be stuck with the ink and the horrible new associations.

We decided Kanan probably does have a tattoo, somewhere, from sometime in his on-the-run youth. But we think Jedi would probably not get tattoos unless it was part of their cultural background, as it seems like something that might be thought of as vanity or something like that.

Cassidy has countless tattoos on his arms, chest, right hand, and right leg. They are quotes, random images, numbers, names, and even runes. I can only explain their continued existence as due to vampire magic. Since they are numerous and real, it's not feasible to keep covering up Joe Gilgun's arms with makeup, so we'll just believe that they keep coming back even when Cassidy gets blown to pieces or burned to a crisp or whatever and not question it.
As far as I can tell, Floki doesn't get tattoos until he shaves his head in S4, I think it was. They are two bands of runes that run along the sides of his head and partially down his neck. According to a Reddit thread, the left side roughly translates to Loki hallow these runes; and the right side is a strong invocation of the Jotun, or ice giants (and specifically the evil ice giants), for strength and protection.

Aradia and Cirava aren't big tattoo enthusiasts, although some Alternian teenagers have them. I think they're both pretty neutral on the concept; they don't hate the idea but it's not something either of them secretly long for. Aradia's not much of an artistic type and Cirava prefers to express themself through music and fashion.
Wilson's from a place and time when tattoos were more stigmatised, and he's not interested enough in the concept to get one in spite of that, so I can't see him already having any. If he changed his mind, he'd likely get something science-related. There is a possibility that it would go away if he were to get one in the Bar or another patron's world and then get killed and resurrected, however.
Bastion's a robot; the closest analogue to tattoos on a metal chassis is probably engravings, because paint is more of a semi-permanent thing like dyed hair. I don't think they want to go that far for something purely decorative.
I'd like to get some tattoos, most notably the description of the "Placeholder Beastie" from the Sunless Sea beta - I do not exist, but you can fight me if you like - but it's expensive and not a very high priority and I don't have the exact look and placement picked out, so I haven't done that. I don't think I'd get any directly based on my pups or any image or icon taken directly from their canons, but tattoos more subtly referencing a fandom that means a lot to me aren't out of the question. Or quotes, but for me to want a text tattoo it has to have a lot of personal resonance; usually only images attract that kind of interest from me.

Noriko, however, does indeed have two tattoos! These are non-canonical, but inspired by her time in Milliways and the things which have happened to her there. She has an entwined eastern-style dragon and tiger which symbolizes balance, and a koi fish to symbolize perseverance in adversity and strength of purpose. She may well get another, probably cherry blossoms, but who knows when that will happen. She would also like to have scarification added to her first tattoo, but obviously that one's gonna take a LOT of thought beforehand.
I, as a bonus, also have two tattoos: I have a key (specifically Thorin's Key to Erebor, from the film) on my right ankle, and a self-designed wave tattoo with the latin text to psalm 130 between my shoulder blades. I have plans for at least three more: a blue rose on my inner wrist, a ship with dropped anchor, and the model for acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter compound associated with both dreaming and learning.

Tattoos on Azeroth are rather rare and humans in general don't seem to have them as a part of their culture. Night elf females get facial markings (the significance of which have never been clarified), and Wildhammer dwarves are known for their blue markings. Other than that, iirc, the only other race to practice tattooing would be the vrykul. Tauren, being furred, do some interesting things with scarring. Orcs also practice tattooing, but they're not native to Azeroth. Which is all a long way of saying that Khadgar doesn't have any tattoos, but would probably have a sigil of the Kirin Tor if he did.
I have two tattoos. One is the wrist chain from Bioshock and the other is an upper arm tattoo of a raven overlaid Odin's Trihorn done watercolor style. I have plans to add a dire unicorn beneath it and get the veterinary Rod of Asclepius on my other arm. And I'd really like to have a version of Azeroth's magic chart done on my back in full color, but money needs to be a thing first.
