Friday DE: Nos to the Talgia

What is your pup nostalgic for at this moment?

Bonus question: Since we're going into a new year and we have a new DE mun, an informal survey...
What sort fo DE topics do you enjoy most?
What do you think about DE coming later in the day, at times?

I think it's worth considering that many people already are responding to these DEs late in the day - for instance, I'm currently writing this at midnight my time. And while I definitely think people should be encouraged to keep responding to DEs throughout the day (and later still, if they feel like it!), as a non-US mun I would prefer if they went up at the same time of day as they do now (or even earlier!). I enjoy checking them on my lunchbreak, and trying to come up with answers when I'm stuck on work problems, but as it is right now they sometimes go up at 4 or even 5pm my time, so if DEs go up at night in the US EU muns would be answering them at around midnight or even the next day. I totally understand why, of course, but having them later again would probably make me less likely to respond than before.

In terms of types of DE: I like memes! Memes are good. And I always like ones which are a bit silly, and/or those which encourage discussion between responders. Conversely, some of those which are country-specific can be a little offputting, e.g. I once had to google 'potluck' to check what it even was before responding. That said, they're useful for broadening my US vocab for writing Molly and Coulson!

I can, will, and have answered DEs multiple days after they're posted, if the question was interesting enough. I do kind of like being able to answer the DE the night before, which isn't really an option when it's posted a few hours later than it has been, but I can live without that. However, earlier might be better so that the maximum number of muns can answer as they get online/get free time.

The type of DE I most consistently like is probably 'fit them into the classification system of another canon', like Homestuck classpects or Digimon crests or Lantern colours. Very open-ended questions as DEs are more likely to give me option paralysis, especially if they're asking about something that canon doesn't even hint at.

I also like the 'match your pup to another canon's classification' memes! I like the way they make you consider your character's core motives/personality/etc.

I too enjoy classification system DEs. They appeal to my burning need to meticulously categorise things, and they make good jumping off points for talking about stuff.

Also I am reminded that it's been ages since we did Homestuck classpects, we should do that one again.
cameoflage: Picture of a Borg cube being unusually polite (and bilingual) about the assimilation thing, as Canadians tend to be. (Canadian Borg)

We should!
