Friday DE: Classpects

Also I am reminded that it's been ages since we did Homestuck classpects, we should do that one again.

I tried finding a cheat sheet for these classpects, as I don't really get Homestuck, but this is the best I could find. If you scroll down a bit there's a chart for the classes and aspects, which make up the classpects.

I'll help out, I'm a Homestuck! Here's the official descriptions of the aspects; there's no such thing for classes and it's somewhat up to interpretation, although I do have this post pointing out what the canon characters with the same class have in common. (And a whole "sburb titles" tag - that's another name for the same thing - on my tumblr that you can pick through if you like.)

Classes: Maid, Page, Mage, Knight, Rogue, Sylph, Seer, Thief, Heir, Bard, Prince, Witch
Aspects: Time, Breath, Doom, Blood, Heart, Space, Mind, Light, Void, Rage, Hope, Life

There's also the Lord and Muse classes, which are special and fancy and rare.

Aradia is canonically the Maid of Time, and Cirava is canonically Hope aspect but has no specific class. I could see them as a Rogue of Hope or possibly a Mage of Hope.

That description of Light players is the most Wilson thing I've ever heard. I like to cast him as a Maid despite the name of the class, because his arc lines up well with the Homestuck canon Maids. So, Maid of Light.

A long time ago I decided that Thurlow was a Rogue of Light. They'd make a decent Mage of Mind as well, but while I could see Mage of Light, Rogue only really works in the context of being a Light player.

Going by the official descriptions, Bastion would make a surprisingly good Space player. This also puts them in charge of breeding the universe frog for their Sburb session, which I'm sure they'd enjoy. (I can't really explain why Homestuck has universe frogs.) I'm thinking Heir of Space.

Yamato is a Knight of Time through and through. He's goal-focused, active rather than passive, empathetic, a problem solver, ruthless and defensive -- the Time aspect was practically made for him, and the idea of Knights as people who use their aspect to protect people is very fitting. Similarly, Gabumon is likely either an Heir or Page of Time.

Eden is likely a Prince of Light, to match up with the Master of Master's Lord of Light, Ephemera's Knight of Light, and Gula's Prince of Void. He's concerned, especially in latter parts of canon, with exposing the truth and forcing other people to acknowledge it, but the manner in which he does so is characteristically destructive.

Ahsoka - I would say her younger self was a Witch of Breath, while her older self is a Mage of Breath.

Sabine - Knight of Time. Not seeing any other choices for her.

Sam Wilson - Witch of Life, or maybe Maid of Life.

Hank McCoy - Seer of Light

Danny Rand - Knight of Hope, though I can see Thief of Hope also.

Viv Vision - Heir of Mind. As much as I love her, she tends towards passivity or reactionary roles.

Jessica Drew - Rogue of Doom or maybe Knight of Doom. I’m not sure I’m getting the passive vs active thing, but Jess can need to be pulled into things, so that’s why I went with Rogue first.

Dog - Mage of Blood...leaning towards Maid of Blood as well.

Tybalt - Lord of Space (I’m inclined to say he’s a Lord of Shadow rather than Space, but I’ll stick with Homestuck’s system.)

I also found this cheat sheet for the classes. I think part of my confusion with the system here is I keep wanting to use Tarot definitions. =)

Regarding Tybalt: Noncanonical aspects show up in Homestuck fanworks sometimes... but they fit in better if they're monosyllables, since all the canon ones are. So now I'm picturing his classpect as "Lord of Dark".

Actually...Lord of Shade fits much better, for he rules the shadows and has a barbed wit whom none is safe from.

Eriond: Maid of Life or Light or Hope, probably. Could fit any of them, I think.

Lois: Witch of Hope, maybe. Light if not Hope.

Evelyn: Knight of Breath, I think.

R2-D2: Seer of Blood. IT'S IRONIC OKAY BECAUSE HE'S A ROBOT.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: Prince of Rage. His is the only answer I didn't have to work for it was just. There.

Tavi: Heir of Time, I think. It is also amusingly appropriate for him to be an Heir. He is, and all.

I really don't get Homestuck at all, but I've been browsing through the links people have provided and think I can do this. So:

Tess is a Mage of Light.

Rose is a Maid of Hope.

Kylo is an Heir of Rage.

Creed is a Bard of Blood.

...yeah I took tests for all of them.

Gaster's aspect is obviously void, and I think he's a mage, since knowledge and discovery is sort of his thing.

Urainia is already a muse of space -the in-comic muse of space even has a reference to her in her username!

I think the classes are the hardest thing to figure out here, but aspect is a little more clear cut.

Gabriel's aspect is Mind. (Reaper is likely also Mind, but I can see him edging towards Rage or Time, too.) Class is either Seer or Witch, I would think, but I'm still unclear on what defines them.

Khadgar's aspect is Hope, and I think his class would be either Slyph or Heir.

Amascut is definitely a Prince but I can't decide between time, space, and rage.

Fairy Fixit fits in as a maid of life.
