Monday DE: eh, it’s late enough on Sunday to count

what is your pup’s daemon or animal type companion? I’m good with mythological/fantasy creatures, Pokémon, or whatever.

I think the last time this came up, I said a cactus. I still stand by that.

Yamato's daemon is Gabumon. They're already a single soul shared between two individuals, so there's not a gigantic amount of difference between Digimon partners and daemons anyway.

If it wasn't Gabumon, then Yamato would likely have an arctic wolf. The animal theming with him is a bit too strong for it to be anything else, and Yamato's personality is fairly lupine anyway, given that wolves are characteristically shy and cautious with a dangerous streak, but fairly social, playful and affectionate with pack members.

For Eden, it's extremely dubious that Nobodies and Replicas would even have daemons, and when they invariably grow new hearts (and presumably get daemons), I suspect they'd at least initially have the shapeshifting daemons of a child.

But if Eden did get one, or some other animal companion, he's again in a situation where he has heavy-handed animal theming going for him, so he'd get a lion. This also fits his persona fairly well -- a cat that sleeps for twenty hours a day, punctuated by short bursts of excessive energy usually directed towards hunting, is kind of perfect for him.

Can Hera's be Chopper? He's been with her for most of her life, and while Hera's "inner essence" probably isn't as curmudgeon as he is, I do have a headcanon that in repairing him Hera had to do a lot of work on his personality matrix, and that he likely wasn't quite as grumpy or totally lacking in droid-typical subservience before that.

And Kanan has his wolf! Apparently.

Aradia's the Aries troll, so a ram.

I think Cirava has, or had, either a giant wasp or a colony of normal-sized wasps as a lusus, since their hive has a giant wasp nest visible in it. They don't have much else in the way of animal motifs (except for all trolls being generically insect-themed), but wasps or bees work well with their affection for bright colours, music, and sweet drinks.

Bastion already has Ganymede. He is not a real species of bird, but he most closely resembles an American cardinal with a pigment mutation. (Possibly more than one simultaneously.)

I decided a while ago that Thurlow's daemon is a kea because of their intelligence, indomitability, and alarming omnivorousness plus the fact that it's green. Thurlow has no particular connection to New Zealand, but it works too well to pass up.

Wilson is hard to decide on a daemon for, but conveniently Don't Starve lets me cheat my way out of this question by providing one of the canon animal companions. (For a dubious value of 'animal'.) The original game has Chester, who's roughly the size and colour of a very large pumpkin on the outside and has the temperament and slobber quotient of a mellow dog. He holds your stuff in his transcendental mouth. Or stomach. It's hard to tell. The Reign of Giants expansion pack adds Glommer, a large flying fuzzy bug-creature who descends to earth on the full moon, excretes vaguely nutritious flammable pink slime that'll tank your sanity meter if you eat it, and if you snuggle up close to him he boosts your sanity.

Varglings are the best. I always go for one of those.

I the player am the diametric opposite of a dog person, but varglings are goddamn adorable. Generally I have one of those if I'm playing Wolfgang, as it seems like his favourite, and a glomglom (occasionally a broodling if I can spawn in the lavae egg) if I'm anyone else.

If I remember correctly I believe that I haven't decided on a companion yet for Fairy Fixit. Since this is a looser question than the daemon one... I'll say maybe one of the toothbeast orcs I had accompaning her AU Empress Fixit self. Clumsy, brutish, silent, made entirely of teeth and represents her passive-aggressive side. The fact that they are bipedal and can carry more things than her is very handy. I doubt toothbeasts are gendered, so that could be an interesting thing to play with.

Amascut has Yandu the striped hyena which settled a lot later than usual, after everyone assumed he had settled on lion.

Sariel's daemon is a rossignol,a Lucian house wren. His name is Alexandre Verlaine, and his second name is so very a nod to the D Day codes, oh yes it is. His first name, to be fair, is not a nod to Hamilton - the daemon idea came first over here. :)

Eriond: Horse. As in, his daemon is a male horse named Horse. Just how this works.

Evelyn: HMMMM Not sure, honestly! I think a bird of some kind. (BTW they got forced through the separation thing when Haven fell.)

Lois: Male ocelot. He's not named yet, I welcome suggestions.

R2: I'm reasonably sure the canonical answer is C-3PO.

Anakin: ... Hmm. Finding reason to argue a krayt dragon. Or maybe a miniature one. Not sure of her name. Tempted to say, in fact, that her name was Leia for reasons relating to Fialleril's Tatooine slave culture and language, which leads into...
Vader: I would argue his daemon died on Mustafar in his psychotic break and Padme named their daughter after her and this is *so* part of why he has trouble with the Princess of Alderaan.

(An argument can be made for Star Wars boys that Anakin or Luke is R2-D2's daemon, but he keeps being separated from them/out-living them. ...YES I am putting them in that order, sorry, you're expecting Skywalker boys to be the primary partner g o s h I hope not)

Tavi: Proserpina, who is either a European wildcat or a tavar if she gets to be a thing she hasn't scene and totally foreshadows book five (and warns the Canim about him WAY SOONER, there is a lot of reevaluating their life choices).

Ellen's is a northern grasshopper mouse named Saoshyant. They're four-inch-long mice of extreme adorableness that also happen to be carnivorous as hell, with a diet consisting of 'insects, other mice, and even snakes'. They're not scavengers- they hunt and kill animals significantly larger than themselves- and they howl at night to mark their territory, although given that they're mice the howls are the kind of thing you don't recognize as a howl unless you are looking directly at the mouse with its muzzle pointed skyward going EEEEEEEEEEE.

Sergeant-Major Shephard's daemon is a colony of honeybees called Imre; he's too tied up in being part of something much bigger than himself not to have a compound daemon.

Varric's daemon is a vixen whose name currently eludes me.

Stacker Pentecost's daemon is an osprey named Yemoja, and part of the reason he was not sent into the worst parts of the justice system after he burned down his father's killer's club at age twelve was that she was still visibly changing; the court had a hard time comparing his action and decision to an adult's in the face of that. I realize the screenwriter has said she's a tiger, but I like the osprey better.

Santo's is a jaguar named Bahlam, and the question of her form giving away his maskless identity is irrelevant, because she settled permanently as a jaguar the moment he put on the mask.
