Whats your charrie's attitude to grooming, hair, and personal neatness?

Brought to you by the intense differences between Hannibal Lecter and Duncan Viszla.

Enzo: Human grooming doesn't entirely apply to sprites, for several reasons. While a hairstyle can be changed, locks of hair are soft-but-solid masses, not composed of strands, and will basically stay as they are unless deliberately altered (or until they grow). In other words, his hair's not gonna get any messier than it already is. Likewise, sprites don't produce constant dermal secretions like humans do, so bathing is more for if you get actually dirty from external sources—although, that being said, they do have some form of extremely rapid refreshing morning shower. All that being said, he'll make sure he's presentable, as a Guardian ought to be. When he's human, he tends to dress casually; he'll definitely shower, deodorize, etc. (especially since he tends to sweat a lot as a human), but it's even odds whether it occurs to him to comb his hair. He always shaves reliably unless circumstances interfere.

Zecora is careful, though not obsessive, with her appearance, and of course makes her own grooming products (all for sale at reasonable prices). Her traditional mane and tail style and jewelry are a way for her to honor her homeland and heritage.

Cisco's workspaces may sometimes see a bit of chaos, but the man himself is always tidy. He spends a fortune on conditioner for his luscious locks and another small fortune on t-shirts which are always clean and pristine.

Barry is always very well-kempt, the only time his hair is ever mussed is after he's been wearing the mask. He's always clean-shaven and bathed and wrinkles are totally for other guys as Barry's wardrobe is never rumpled.

K-2SO is a droid in the middle of a rebellion, so dings and dirt and scorch marks are a thing.

Matt rocks the stubble, but when he's not a sweaty, bloody mess from beating on people with his fists he's presentable enough. He doesn't overly fuss with his hair but it's generally washed and combed, and as a lawyer by day he fills out a suit quite well.

Logan has a sensitive nose, and often has reasons for going undetected so even though he can dress like a slob he definitely doesn't reek like one. In better circumstances his clothes are shabby but clean, much like the man. When shit is on fire and/or hitting the fan though, he could care less about what he's wearing or whether it's all intact (being blown up, set on fire, sliced and/or shot to pieces happens, and it's always harsh on the wardrobe).

Hellboy can be particular about certain things, like his goatee and his hair, and making sure his horns stay filed down, but sometimes there are explosions, being swallowed by giant beasties is a thing, and job hazards include guts and slime and a guy has just gotta deal with it. He cleans up pretty nice after, though.

Ganymede: isn't really obsessive about much, but he definitely likes being clean. Modern availability of water and soap is amazing, and totally spoiled him for going days without a shower or bath. He very rarely presents as someone who's spent a lot of time on how he looks (mostly because he usually doesn't) but he is presentable.

Noriko: is absolutely a clean freak. She will shower twice a day at least, sometimes more if she's done something particularly messy. She takes a great deal of time to care for her hair, partly because she dyes it regularly, and partly because she wants it to look good. Her clothes are always clean, though not always pressed or ironed, but she takes religiously good care of them.

Yamato is pretty fastidious about being clean and nice smelling at all times, to the point where getting himself washed is usually his first priority after a pitched battle. Likewise, he prefers to keep himself clean-shaven, and he'll refuse to wear dirty clothes unless there's absolutely no other choice. While it's difficult to tell in animation, he seems to be relatively neat with his clothes, too: Not quite Jyou Kido 'if there is a single wrinkle in my shirt I shall surely die' levels, but fairly neat.

That having been said, his hair is a spiky, messy mop that he'll maybe comb for thirty seconds but will more usually just leave alone. He has perpetual bedhead.

It's my impression that it's standard for ships intended for any long term travel (e.g. bigger than a fighter or shuttle) to have some kind of "sonic shower" which uses technobabble ultrasonic vibrations to remove to remove dirt/grime. These are as effective as and more efficient than water-based showers/bathing, though I think water showers/baths are considered more comfortable/luxurious.

So everyone on the Ghost should be pretty clean, as they do have regular access to a sonic shower in the refresher. (Yes, Zeb's fine, that's just how Lasats smell.) But that wasn't always the case for Hera or Kanan.

For Hera, Twi'leks do have some thin body hair, but obviously no hair on their heads like humans, nor facial hair. It's also my headcanon that Twi'leks can physically withstand relatively high temperatures without needing to sweat. So there was a degree to which keeping clean that way wasn't as high a priority to them, or just didn't happen as regularly, because their bodies didn't get that grimy that easily. Dusty, maybe, but that could be shaken off. I'd imagine there's a sonic shower in Hera's home, but while away from there, it wasn't the first concern she or her family would have had, beyond hand cleaning.

Kanan also sometimes didn't have access to sonic/hygiene facilities while on the run. Early on he kept his very short for the convenience of it, and if he grew desperate, he might have resorted to sneaking into a home or ship with a shower, or you know, this universe probably sells wet towelettes, or ways to heat a bucket of water. Or I'd guess in some places public shower options were pretty common. (I may have some experience with bathing when there's no shower close by...) On the Ghost, since there's regular access to a sonic shower, Kanan will sometimes forget to cut his hair until Hera reminds him. He's let it grow out a bit, but just always keeps it tied back.
