Friday DE

Since I’m up late at a company party, let’s do this.

Let’s say Milliways now has a VR environment straight out of near future sci-fi. What is your pup’s avatar like? Do they go for a straight version of themself or have fun with a costume? Or do they go nuts and have a avatar that isn’t anything like themself; say non humanoid or the like.

Nichola finds some obnoxiously cute cat character.

Wilford changes his avatar every time he’s in the lobby. He can never find anything he likes, so he just uses them all.

Ellen's dealt with VR environments twice now, once in a simulation of the liberation of Alaska from the Chinese invasion forces and once in Stanislaus Braun's Vault 122. I don't think it would really occur to her to go for a seriously different avatar; she'd probably just go as herself, only neater-looking.

Amascut is already wearing an avatar. According to her former high priestess, she has to change it often because of curse reasons, but said former high priestess is an immortal cat sustained by her spite for Amascut, so who knows if that's a lie.

Either way, Amascut will tend to be a completely normal human woman with red hair. Every so often she'll change the face and hairstyle and bodytype and cloths around.

Fairy Fixit gives me the vibe of preferring to appear as something abstract.
configuration_birdwatcher: In-game spray art of Reinhardt, Bastion, Brigitte and Torbjörn watching sports on TV. Bastion has a question mark over their head; Ganymede has a pennant in his mouth. (sports)

Bastion would have an avatar shaped like their real self, because they'd feel like they were being deceptive otherwise, but they'd use it as a chance to try out a bunch of new colour schemes. They might also try out functional add-ons that would be impractical or impossible in reality, like flying on their own helicopter rotors.

Thurlow makes a default avatar that looks like a more exaggeratedly inhuman and sinister version of themself, and tries out some entirely nonhuman avatars as well but doesn't stick with them.

Cirava seems like the one most likely to regularly adopt an avatar that's just a shambling pile of abstract neon-coloured shapes, out of my cast, but they'd have multiple avatars as well and at least one of them would look like themself. Fashionable eyepatch included.

Wilson is extremely proud of his appearance and in particular his hairstyle, so his avatar is probably himself in a lab coat and goggles with painstakingly recreated hair.

Aradia I could see using an avatar that looks like herself or one that more represents her interests. Maybe it'd be herself but dressed like Troll Indiana Jones.
