tuesday de: emergency fuzzy

Does your character have experience with baby animals of any kind? Which ones and why? Do they like baby animals?

Feel free to share any pictures of baby animals you like.

brought to you by the only other question i had was way too weighty for a de after this monday so we'll just talk about it some time when it's less salt in a wound

Bastion has extensive experience with baby animals. Not really in a parenting capacity, just observational, but nevertheless. Ganymede raised a family on their shoulder at least once.

Wilson's experience with baby animals is largely or entirely after entering the Constant, except possibly if he was doing multigenerational experiments with lab animals beforehand. He's seen baby beefalo and how immensely awkward-looking they are, and moslings (eight-foot-tall goslings with moose heads) eating everything in sight. He's repeatedly tried to raise a baby tallbird - a smallbird, as they're known before their legs get long - but they usually die before reaching adolescence because Wilson and the bird collectively ran into something tougher and meaner.

Wee Tess used to try to catch fox kits. She wanted one as a pet. It didn't work out, but she loved them.

Rose has a kitten! She loves all things fuzzy and cuddly.

Kylo doesn't care.

Creed likes them well enough, but then he likes animals in general more than he likes people.

And that's Amascut's answer...

As for Fairy Fixit I have no idea. I don't even know what baby Zanarian Fairies look like, and since they are insect-fungus symbionts the possilities are not limited at all. Baby Zanarian Fairies may be horrific looking to mammalian brains for all I know.

Ellen and Kate Barlow delivered a Brahmin calf together at Milliways some time back. Kate Barlow had experience with cattle; Ellen had a copy of Ow, My Arm!: Large-Animal Obstetrics For The First Year Veterinary Student1.2 Ellen has since delivered several other calves as she owns a small Brahmin herd, but it's not her primary area of focus. She does like calves, though.

1. I wish I could say this was a canonical Fallout veterinary text. I'm weirdly proud of this name.
2. As for me, I had a 1923 newspaper article from some western Canadian community with an agricultural report section on the successful delivery of a living two-headed calf. It included the specific order in which the attending vet brought the various heads and legs into the light, which was helpful and not really a sentence I ever thought I was going to have to type.

Okay, so I'm having An Tuesday and therefore struggling to put two words in a row, so I will try to answer the question later.

I can, however, provide emergency small cute (not necessarily fuzzy) animals, so brace yourself: picspam incoming.
