Friday DE: I saw it on main street

In my neighborhood there is an empty lot, which is really weird for the Bay Area's hyper inflated real estate market. Having recently reread the latest book in the Toby Daye series, I can't help wondering what secret of the Fae is hiding there every time I drive by.

With this in mind, what reminders of canon, or flights of fancy, do you see in your travels?

It's none of my Milliways canons, but my office is near Fenwick Lane and a couple years ago they built the Fenwick Apartments on the corner, and any fans of the Red Panda Adventures from Decoder Ring Theatre will understand why I immediately wanted to move there and search for the pneumatic tube entrance in the boiler room.

There's a Cassidy's Pub in NYC, which is of course an Irish bar, so I feel as if I should go in some day and have a Guinness on principle. McSorley's Old Ale House is also referenced in Preacher comics canon and it's a real place in the East Village. It was where Cassidy made a lot of drinking buddies when he first arrived from Ireland.

When Munnin (Jay/Sinric/Bodhi-mun) came to visit, I took her on a small journey through the East Village where we stopped in a couple of thrift stores. We picked out clothing that we thought our pups would love. One special garment was a white coat of magical iridescent fabric that would have suited Sinric or Emcee (or Cecil Palmer, shout-out to Cecil-mun).

And of course the existence of Club Cumming reminds me of Emcee all day every day. (I'm basing Emcee's plans of opening up his own club on this, so any resemblance may or may not be coincidental.) Munnin and I danced to songs that I had actually included on Emcee's New Year's Eve dance party playlists, so that was pretty awesome.

Not a canon for me, but when I was around 8 years old, I was living in Modena, Italy. There's a large stone table in one corner of the piazza in Modena (here's a photo), and as I read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe around the same time, I always thought of that table as the Stone Table in Narnia.

Wow this is timely, given what I discovered today.

There's a 4th century BCE Roman mosaic from Turkey in the next building over where I'm temping.

And I'm not even at a museum, so this is really quite unusual.

I guess you could call that reminding me of my canon.

There's a coffee shop down the road that has a moustache theme. Everything has moustaches on them.
