Wednesday DE: Gotta Catch 'Em All

Morning, everyone. Or evening for some people, I suppose, but morning for at least some people somewhere probably. I'm stepping into the DE team on the Wednesday slot, and with the recent announcement of Pokemon Sleep, I have a DE in that vein.

If your pup were a Pokemon trainer, what type or types of Pokemon would they use? (And here's a handy graphic of all the types.) Would it be a conscious choice on their part (and if so, why?), or would they just gravitate towards a particular type?

As an optional extra for anyone with the time and inclination to go rummaging through Bulbapedia, are there any specific Pokemon they'd put on their team?

Welcome to the DE Squad, dude. <3

Sam's mostly going to get Dark types - Umbreon and Absol would be major favourites. He'd probably also accidentally wind up with something adorable that follows him around despite his best efforts to convince it to do otherwise (I suspect a Vulpix).

Molly probably would not use a particular Pokemon type, but would definitely prefer the cute+badass ones. Stats vary across the games, so which exact ones she'd pick would depend, but definitely a Blissey (pink and, at least in Go, probably the best Tank), Espeon, Milotic, etc. etc. Plus a Lucario as a cute fighting-type!

Raoul would prefer fighting and steel-types. I think they'd just appeal most naturally to him as a knight.

War would, of course, be a 'friend' to any and all of the Pokemon most inclined to do battle.

Victoria, I suspect, would have a full team of maxed-out Ninetales: classy, aloof and dangerous. Failing that, possibly dragon types.

More as and when I have time in work later!

My apologies for not making an announcement last Friday about your having joined us. That said, one of us, one of us, one of us...

Also, thank you Maru for your time. = ]

Ahsoka would have fighting types, I think.

Sabine would aim for colorful and area attacks.

Jessica would end up with poison types. Not sure if this is intentional or not.

Danny would aim for dragon types but end up with a lot of fighting type as well.

Viv would either get electric types or ghost types.

Amascut would gravitate towards psychic and fire types. I think I saw on Bulbapedia that pokemon that are both are rare, but I a sure she'd have at least Victini and Delphox in her collection. She'd also collect Dark and Ghost types as backup fighters.

Fairy Fixit wouldn't be a fairy if she were a Pokemon trainer, but she would specialize in fairy, grass, and bug types. Parasect would be one of her favorites.

You weren't kidding, that is an ominous sun lion.

Bastion loves Flying types, predictably, and Grass and Bug types that live in the same habitats. Corviknight from the newest gen is looking like a great pick for their team. (There's like five legendary birds and a few more Flying-type legendaries that don't seem to be birds per se, but I'm not going to use legendaries unless it's a perfect fit.) I'm thinking Corviknight, Skarmory, Togekiss, Rowlet or an evolution thereof (Decidueye is technically not a Flying type, it just evolves from one), Archeops, and Sigilyph, plus Ganymede the shiny Spearow who is not technically part of their battle team. (Please do not let a Rotom near the Bastion unit. That could be bad.)

...Gyarados is Water/Flying, not Water/Dragon? What the hell?

Aradia loves Ghost types, just like the mun, and some Psychic types would suit her as well. She'd have a Spiritomb, a Dusknoir, a Cofagrius, a Lunatone, a Wooloo, and either an Unown or a Claydol.

Cirava likes Bug types and Electric types, which overlaps in the form of Charjabug and Joltik. Those guys, plus Vivillon, Beedrill, Rotom, and Kricketot.

Thurlow I think would like Ghost, Dark, and Psychic types, similar to Aradia but with more focus on cryptids than dead things. They also spend enough time at zee to pick up some Water types and other water-dwelling Pokemon. I'm thinking Dhelmise, a whole bunch of Unown, Elgyem, Houndoom, also a Yamask or Cofagrius, and Dreadnaw from the new game.

Wilson is always hard to come up with thematically fitting animal-type companions for but I think he'd enjoy having some of those Pokemon that are revived from fossils, like Kabuto and Omastar. That's the kind of thing it would take for him to give a damn about geology.
