Thursday DE: White lies

As I’ve grown older, I’m recognizing when I tell myself little lies, like “ I don’t need to write this down. I’ll remember it later.”

What are some little lies your pup(s) tell themselves?

Yeah. Just that.

Eric: it's a long list. Most of the things Eric tells himself are a bit off center to truth really.

Elrond: just one more page?
(And also that he is fine. He's just better at convincing himself).

It is hard picking small lies, isn't it?

Jess: That she totally can remember people's names without making up nicknames to go with them. Also, California avocados are better tasting that whatever they get on the East Coast. (Given how many avocados come from Mexico and how much fruit and veggies are shipped out of season these days, I can't imagine there is a huge difference. Guacamole is another matter.)

Viv: That she is perfectly fine not accessing her emotion processors. (OK, that's not a little lie.)

Got a few before I wrap up and go home here.

Cisco: 'I can watch scary ass movies alone in my apartment in the dark and be completely fine'. Work and projects aren't the only reason Cisco spends so much time at S.T.A.R. Labs, even late at night. Sometimes it's because the chick from Ringu is most definitely waiting for him at his place and S.T.A.R. Labs has both lots of lights and a speedster panic call system. Just in case.

Barry: Barry has a few. For a long time one of them is that it isn't painfully obvious to everyone else how in love with Iris he is.

Another is 'I have plenty of time." And then he's inevitably late for work/meeting someone/doing the thing.

'I know what I'm doing.' A variation on the 'I'm fine' so many other people seem to be lying to themselves about, wherein Barry pretends he has a lock on the superhero thing even though he is most definitely making half of this shit up as he goes along and stumbles on a lot of mistakes along the way.

Matt: That meme with the dog sitting in a room on fire saying 'this is fine'? That's Matt, all the time.
