Wednesday DE: Age doth not winter nor custom stale

Riffing off the theme of the last two days: How observant is your pup? Are there any particular areas that they're more observant in than others (are they, for example, great at picking up on environmental cues but terrible at reading people's emotions), and do they have any blind spots?

Viv is surprisingly adapt at reading the emotional needs of her friends and teammates, despite having her emotions shut off. She is not as good at gauging social situations and usually missteps often.

Khadgar is great at perception checks involving magic, otherwise not so much. He's got a decent Investigation bonus, though, due to the amount of study one has to put in as a mage and alchemist. He's also notices when people are giving him looks (and comments on that in game).

Gabriel has both excellent perception and investigation skills.

Funnily enough, I was actually thinking about this with regards to Molly a couple of nights ago. Molly has a certain amount of hyper-vigilance going on: she's constantly scanning her surroundings for trouble. On the other hand, being functionally invulnerable means that her hyper-vigilance manifests in a slightly unusual way: unlike many of those with hyper-vigilance, she's not concerned about being attacked, so she doesn't choose seats with her back to a wall or with easy escape routes - she picks the places where she can see best.

(And often, especially when she's working Security, she deliberately chooses to be as visible as possible. Prevention of idiots is better than cure celling.)

She's also pretty good at reading people's emotions, although she's not necessarily that good at knowing what to do with/about the information once she has it...

McGonagall also has a significant degree of CONSTANT VIGILANCE! hyper-vigilance, although in her case this is mostly the natural result of being a teacher in a school for several hundred inexperienced teenage magic-users, particularly when those magic-users included a) the Marauders, b) the Weasley Twins, and c) HARRY BLOODY POTTER.

(She regards it as very much her own personal curse that all three of the above were in her own house. On the other hand, she does at least know for a fact that her heart's in very good condition and she is now very difficult to shock...)
