Weekend DE: Bring out your pups
I realized we have a new app cycle coming next weekend, so let’s do a test drive.
Tag in with pups you’re thinking of playing and give them a go. And what the heck, let’s throw it open to NPCs or OCs as well.
Open until you’re done threading.

STO character? STO character.
Technically, you aren't supposed to use space-time anomalies to get ahead on your paperwork.
Technically, you're supposed to do more paperwork when you report them.
Jhort Yphori has instead fiddled with the internal clocks on his equipment so that nothing complains about extra clock cycles appearing in the middle of a handful of seconds when he takes his stack of PADDs back through the door.
So very botherable.

"Wowzers," she breathes, looking around in disbelief.
What a strange day this was turning out to be.

Or possibly the fleet recruits neophiles. That could go either way.
"It's a good view," agrees the blue man with the antenna. Then he takes a swig of something from a mug.

It takes effort to pull her gaze away to glance at the person who had spoken to her, and then she finds herself staring once again. Uh...
"Am I going crazy, or... is that real?" She asks with shaky voice and a nod toward the window. It's probably a more polite question than 'are those real?'

Jhort wobbles a hand in a so-so gesture.
"Probably, for values of real that includes mostly impossible to touch and also resetting because time looks like origami here."
He nudges a chair out. "Care for a seat?"
no subject
"Sure," she replies after a moment, and steps forward to take the offered seat. "Thanks. I... wasn't expecting... had there always been a bar at Blackwell, and I just hadn't heard about it yet?"
It'd be par for the course, really. It isn't like she talks to very many people. Certainly not the kinds of people who'd be in-the-know.

At least he waited until she'd sat down?

"And I'm not even on campus any more? This day keeps getting weirder. How did I get here?"
no subject
"The same way most people do: you walked through the door. It's just that the two sides of the door here are further apart than opposite sides of a regular wall. Quick example is that, for most patrons of this fine establishment, time doesn't pass at home. I am abusing that fact to keep up to date on my paperwork."
no subject
"That would be super useful for getting homework done on time, I guess," her smile is slight, hesitant.
"But, there's no way you walked in from Blackwell," she says, hoping it doesn't sound as rude and abrupt as the words did to her. "I mean, you said we're between worlds here. Literally between worlds?"
no subject
He's also sorting his PADDs into a rough stack so he can put them away before they head to the door if she wants a demo.

All two dozen crew and not quite a megaton of alloys and force fields of her.

"But if she's yours, that makes you her captain." She knows that much about ships. Most of the rest of what she knows about ships with captains is tied up in intricate knots of rigging, and the occasional eye patch or 'avast!'
"I'm Max, by the way. Max Caulfield."

"I've never even been so far from home as San Francisco; I would love to travel the world someday, though. What does a... Miranda-class light cruiser do, out among the stars?"
She doubts it's sightseeing, though she doesn't know if the views of space or new stars or new worlds could ever get old.

It was a bad day.
"Rescue freighters that have got into trouble. Check up on outposts. Try not to die while fighting if there's an attack."
Jhort's tone is deliberately lighter as he continues, "Normally there's plenty of time to do the paperwork since we aren't the fastest class either, but I like being more available to the crew if I can."
no subject
"Not dying is usually number one on any to-do list. Man, that's hardcore though. Helping folks in trouble and making sure everything's okay at outposts." She figures places remote enough to count as outposts in an age where interstellar travel is normal must be really remote. "Real everyday hero stuff."
