Wednesday DE: Make it so

Congratulations, your pup is now a Starfleet officer! Of the many departments and positions on a starship, what would they be doing?

Bonus question: Under their watchful eye, how likely is the ship to crash in a ball of plasma fire, leaving no survivors?
takethatnature: Wilson with a sizeable beard holding a torch while offscreen companions hold up a book, a red axe, a lighter, and a balloon. (beardy: friends)

Wilson is a Science Officer, maybe even the Chief Science Officer. He has a moderate chance of a plasma fireball.

Bastion is a natural choice for Security. They have a mild to medium chance of a plasma fireball, somewhat below Wilson's, as they're more cautious but really don't have the leadership skills to manage the whole ship so things could get out of their control without them instigating the problem.

Thurlow would fit best as Chief Science Officer as well, which is awkward if they're all on the same ship, but they would take well to a general command position too. They have a medium chance of fireball because they have better people skills than Wilson but are only slightly less reckless.

Aradia would probably make a good Operations Officer or Chief Operations Officer, having experience juggling tasks like that in Sgrub. Her chances of crashing in a plasma fireball are situational; she will gladly give an incompetent and unpleasant captain enough rope to hang themself, but she has decent judgment and won't fuck things up just because.

Cirava I almost want to put in the Helm department because its name overlaps with the position they were nearly conscripted into on Alternia, but they should actually be the Morale Officer or the Lounge Manager. If they do end up flying the ship their chances of crashing it are high, but otherwise their plasma fireball odds are quite low because they have no business being in a position to cause that much chaos in the first place and aren't troublesome enough to make the chaos happen anyway.

Klaus would end up in the medical department, probably as a nurse or medic, and the doctors would have to remind him on the regular to STOP talking to shipmates who have died, it's freaking out everyone else. The ship wouldn't blow up because of him, but this is Star Fleet - ships have this nasty tendency to blow up because Reasons.

... oops plot bunny.

So, TOS or TNG setting (I like TOS for it's sheer level of unprofessional cowboyism, TNG because they got more into the 'how about we stop mocking other people's coping mechanisms hmm?' plotlines), the away team is captured on an Alien Planet (tm), and from the corner comes the commentary in a 'this doesn't matter because it actually really does but you guys don't tend to listen to this stuff anyway so I'm pretending it doesn't matter' voice:
"So, Davies says he's found the lock code, sir." And everyone kinda scowls at the scrawny medic in the corner and whoever is leading this freight train to crazytown kinda sighs and tries to put on the Wise Leader (also tm) face.
"Hargreeves, Davies died two weeks ago."
"Yeah, but he also has the code. 6221." (Because aliens are using Earth-based numbering systems, yes)

We actually did a Star Trek AU for AU week because Star Wars vs Star Trek and etc. We set it vaguely TNG-era with Hera as the ship's First Officer and Kanan as Security Chief. And we made Thrawn the ship's captain because... we're weird. The ship name we made up, "U.S.S. Cerberus", was supposed to be something of a compromise between 'Ghost' and 'Chimera.' To supplement for lack of Force powers we also made Kanan half-Betazoid.

... and the next year we did also do a Mirrorverse version of it, with Hera and Thrawn in an armed rebellion against the Terran Empire and Kanan at least initially a lowly Security Officer in said Empire.

Jessica would be security I think, and she'd be damned good at her job. I think she'd also help in other spots as needs demanded. The ship she is assigned to does seem to get in a lot of trouble and ends up nearly becoming a ball of plasma on a regular basis, but they always seem to pull out in the end.

Viv would be communications.

Tybalt would be command and runs an odd ship. Actually, I can see Tybalt as Tactical also, with Toby at the helm.

Dog would be something like Q, though less in it for amusement and more into encouraging the lesser being to learn their potential.

Moist has been arrested for pretending to be a Starfleet officer, they just have the best access and everyone trusts them. He tends to go for being medical or science.

Cassian would either be helm or tactical and probably an officer.

Sameth would be deep in engineering and have at least one interesting fire to his name.

Charles would be in medical, probably a counselor.

Ivan would be an officer in Ops, that matches best with his role in canon.

Quentin would be at the Academy training for Command or actually he might be on a ship, doing training under Toby.

I'm not sure about the others.

I feel like Mimi would also be a good fit for Comms? Or maybe Command. That girl gets shit done.

Molly: Security, naturally. :) With her in charge, he ship might crash in a ball of plasma fire, but I figure she would probably manage to keep most people alive nonetheless. So, like, no-score win?

Victoria: Also Security, and that ship would be the most competently-run ship in the entire damn fleet. It would also have its enemies very, very worried, at all times.

McGonagall: Command. She'd be a former Weapons Officer and now the First Officer on the oldest ship in the fleet, one with a track record of showing up in the nick of time to rescue ships under attack (which is as near as I can get to Hogwarts' rep as the safest place in the Wizarding World). As the oldest ship, it's also the
