Monday DE: Look At Me

I am very sorry to have to tell everyone that it is, once again, a Monday. Please accept my condolences at this sad time.

Inspired by having spent way too long, a while ago, squinting at Google Images to see if someone could be described as having 'skinny shoulders' (and still not being sure I got it right)...

Your Daily Entertainment, should you choose to accept it, is: what does your character look like? Is there something about their appearance that people tend to miss or get wrong?

Please feel free to expand as much as you'd like on the short descriptions in their journal profiles!

Poking my head in quickly before I vanish again:

So, Yamato is a not-quite-6'1" (at least according to official materials, although in actual shots his height runs the gamut from slightly-shorter-than-5'11"-Taichi to slightly-taller-than-6'2"-Jyou) Japanese eighteen year old, with shaggy, kind of spiky blond hair. The exact shade varies depending on series, with 01 and 02 having it be more golden and Tri having it be a paler ash blond colour.

While the art style makes it difficult to tell, he's apparently very very pretty -- pretty enough to have screaming fangirls and at least two instances of making people faint. He's got a sort of angular, fine-boned, rather lupine quality to his features. Cheekbones that could cut glass, long eyelashes, that kind of thing. He doesn't smile a lot, and he doesn't smile for very long, and his smile is kind of ... bad. It looks wrong.

Yamato seems to just about edge out Taichi to be the brawniest of the Chosen -- he's got a lithe, athletic build, and since Yamato's a swimmer I suspect he's pretty close to someone like Ning Zetao in terms of build.
childofrebellion: (kind at the end)

In canon, Quentin is also described as pop star handsome so I like to imagine the two of them leaving trails of people going ooh behind them. And without his disguise, Quentin can into the sort of otherworldly beautiful that messes with you as that's part of how his race of Fae work.

Man, they definitely leave just a trail of dazed people wherever they go.

I've been wavering in my head about how tall Emcee really is. Like, why not just base it off Alan Cumming's actual height, which is an average 5'10" (or 5'9" depending on the source), but personally I feel that Emcee is a little smaller than that. So I would say he's about 5'7"-ish. In the beginning he used to be very thin due to malnourishment, but he's since grown a bit healthier, though he remains slender. Not waifish or willowy, just svelte but more masculine. He's not toned, but soft around the middle. Despite that he's still sturdier than he appears.

He always wears makeup. The barest minimum would be dark eyeliner and/or lipstick. If he isn't wearing any makeup at all, it's usually because he's in his own world and has to hide. Though he is clearly a man, when he's performing in costume and full makeup, he does have a way of using his face and body to heighten his androgyny.

Mike looks like Breckin Meyer. Like 100% like Breckin Meyer. As if he's stolen this man's face and wears it like...a face.

Raph looks like the love child of Michael Chiklis, Dominick Lombardozzi, and that guy who plays Heatwave on Legends of Tomorrow. He's six foot damn near square. He's got a nose that looks clearly like it's been set the wrong way too many times.

Splinter is an older Japanese gentleman. Pretty non-descript, though there is a bit of a chunk taken out of one of his ears.

This is going to come as a shock, but Aang is an Asian looking kid with bright blue arrow tattoos. He's fair of complexion, and every few days or so there's some brown stubble on his head from his hair growing back, but...yeah. Totally Asian.

Bumi looks just like what Aang would have looked as a much older man, except with the complexion of his mother's people. (It was Tenzin who looked more like Hakoda and Sokka.)

The Oompa Loompas look like nightmares. Little orange and green nightmares. And not even fun nightmares like from Riverbottom. Just straight up nightmares.

Aradia's ancestor (in an alternate universe, but same genes) is explicitly from the Alternian equivalent of Japan, and I picture ancestors and descendants being about as genetically similar as siblings, so Aradia probably looks like a Japanese teenager too. Coloration notwithstanding, because her skin is approximately the colour of unpainted concrete and her eyes have yellow scleras and grey irises, possibly flecked with red by the time she next comes into the bar since they fill in with a troll's blood colour during puberty. She's got lots of curly black hair but often keeps it tucked into her god tier hood nowadays.
takethatnature: A slightly frustrated Wilson looking downwards and gesturing with his right hand, mouth open to exposit about something. (beardy: well the thing is)

[personal profile] takethatnature 2019-10-22 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Wilson is shorter than average but not, like, definingly short, he's like 5'6". 166cm or so. (Making him either fairly tall or really short is a popular headcanon in the Don't Starve fandom but I just can't get on board with either one.) That's not including his hair, which has a slight natural curl but mostly sticks up in spikes; if it didn't do that it'd be nearly chin-length but instead it goes... up. Without apparently needing any hair product, since it still does that after he shakes the seawater out of it in the Shipwrecked trailer. There's probably a point at which it would succumb to gravity, but nobody's head hair grows very far past its original length in the Constant. His beard can grow longer than his hair can.

Oh yeah, the beard. If he's not growing his beard out for warmth or magic supplies, I indiscriminately mix icons with a full beard, no facial hair, and some facial hair because he's always growing a beard and then shaving the whole thing off when it gets inconveniently long in his world and I can't be bothered to keep track of his beard cycle in the bar because it only takes a few weeks to turn over like that. (The game mechanics don't allow you to trim a beard back to a previous stage with the shaving razor, only remove the whole thing.) Schrödinger's beard.
configuration_birdwatcher: Bastion (with their default skin) in a ready stance with their recon gun extended past the frame (here i come)

[personal profile] configuration_birdwatcher 2019-10-22 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I try to mention early in threads with new people that Bastion has a large gun attached to their body and a smaller gun instead of a right forearm/hand because once I thought the former was obvious from the icons but the character I was threading with didn't react until I mentioned it midway through the thread. It's in their profile, but still.

Also they're slightly over seven feet/two meters tall (I'm not sure if that's measured from the top of their head or the top of their Sentry Mode gun barrel), smell like industrial grease, vibrate slightly while standing still in the same way that a living creature breathes, and can rotate many of their joints a full 360 degrees.
