Bouncing a little off of yesterday:
Not everyone actually deals with fears by making them ridiculous; it's just not a coping mechanism that works for everyone, or for every fear. How does your character attempt to handle their fears?
(Yes, I said attempt. I play Anakin Skywalker, I am aware that the answer to handling fear may be, "badly.")

Kyle talks to his grandfathers helmet, or at least used to. These days I think he’s too much seething rage to feel fear.
Creed? Fear? You must be joking.

Sabine: Defiant fight or flight? Trying to think of how she was when she was caught by the inquisitors.
Ben: At present fear isn't something he worries about. In life I think he overcame fear by the conditioning to follow orders by Reginald.
Tybalt fakes it until whatever is causing the fear is gone.
Jess gets pissed.

If it's a social fear, because he's shy and has a lot of social anxiety, he'll either try to ignore it, push the person in question away, or just agonise over it until he does or says something incalculably stupid.
While he doesn't have any sense of fear for threats to himself, if it's a threat to his brother and his team then he'll respond by obliterating it from the face of the earth. Especially if it's a threat to Takeru. Nobody threatens his baby brother and lives.
