Is your character an optimist or a pessimist? If they're one or the other, why?

Sam likes to be cynical about things, but when you get right down to it... he's an optimist. He always thinks there's a way out or things will eventually come right, even if that means he has to take a (metaphorical... usually) crowbar to them to make it happen.

Molly is an unabashed optimist.

McGonagall is fundamentally a realist. That said: like Sam she can be quite cynical, or at least put on a good cynical front, but on a sliding scale she'd skew towards optimism.

Coulson would definitely tell you he's a realist, but really he's an optimist through and through. After all, what are superheroes (okay, superheroes when they're not being written by Frank Miller...) if not the ultimate expression of optimism?

I think most people who know Raoul, but who don't know him well, would call him a pessimist. He does a lovely 'world-weary soldier' act, especially at parties... but deep down, there's a hard core of optimism there.

Snow Leopard Woman... hmm. Realist who skews to optimism, I think.

Victoria is an extremely realistic optimist. Of course the world's full of dreadful people, but on the other hand, she's also spent a lot of her career, er... culling them? So of course one has to have hope, doesn't one?

War is an optimist, while also being absolutely sure that the world is going to end. Well, she would be, wouldn't she?

Poe is an optimist. Occasionally too much so for his own good. BB-8 is a pessimist, mostly - he blames it on spending too much time with idiot humans... (Happy beeps, buddy!)

I find it quite interesting that basically all my characters are optimists - I am too, so I suppose that's why.

Ahsoka is absolutely an optimist. She trusts that the Force will steer things to the best outcome eventually. She has her bad moments of pessimism, but her true state is optimism.

Jess expresses a realism tinged with pessimism, but at heart, she's an optimist. She's overcome too much, seen the world on the brink of disaster only for everything to work out to not be.
