Friday DE: Hat day

For whatever reason*, Bar has decided it’s Hat Day in Milliways. What type of hat does your pup get? Do they play along though they hate it? Or do they love it? Or do they pull the hat off straight away and end up spending the entire evening pulling the hat off as it reappears?


*As if Bar needs any reason for the things she does.

So that's Aradia's. Thurlow already has a favourite hat, a bowler hat with a droopy fake daisy stuck in the band (that's there in the silhouette I picked for them in the character creator), so Bar might exempt them from having a hat of her choice provided to them but also prevent them from taking their own hat off. Which according to the mores of their time and place you're supposed to do in most indoor spaces, particularly when around ladies, although they're already not super rigorous about following that etiquette rule.

Wilson also brings his own hat - usually either a tam o'shanter stolen from a homicidal Scottish walrus-man, or a flower crown - and is even worse about following his era's hat-removal rules, especially since he's gotten used to being by himself and outdoors most of the time. And also because he keeps his inventory crammed full of random junk he might need when he's travelling through difficult territory, and a hat on your head is one less thing taking up an inventory slot.

Bastion could have the hat they're wearing in the Overwatch 2 promotional art, which is a baseball cap that used to belong to Torbjörn. Or the orange toque with a pom-pom that they have in one of their alternate skins. However, I like the idea of them having a straw sunhat with a big floppy brim and a bow or flowers on it, like a stylish gardening hat. Hats are one of the few pieces of human clothing they can wear without it interfering with their ability to reconfigure, so they like partaking of that form of personal decoration.

Cirava has some baseball caps and headbands at home, but that doesn't seem entertaining enough. So they get this instead, which they at first call "cringe" and then try to make an ironic fashion statement out of wearing a bumblebee-striped hat with deelybopper antennae.

Ahsoka Tano gets some small hat, perhaps a leopard print pillbox number? It'd have to fit between her montrails. She spends about 10-15 minutes trying to get the dang thing off her head--I think she doesn't like things on her head--before she gets zen jedi about it and accepts the reality.

Sabine Wren gets a rainbow sequin bucket hat and she loves it!

Viv Vision plays along without quite grasping the reason for the theme. I can't decide between this unicorn gay pride hat or this rainbow sequin glam rock hat.

Jessica Drew gets a bedazzled cowboy hat. She plays along even if she'd rather have gotten a Humphrey Bogart fedora.

Dog gets a ridiculously tall fez and loves it, especially if it's something she can lord over Yrael about.

Tybalt gets one of those hats with giant feathers you find at Ren Faires and he does his best to be dignified and ignore it. If Quentin or Toby were around, he'd ham it up as if he were on stage.

Ben Hargreeves gets a LED squid hat (because I am mean) and never gives up trying to get rid of it.

And will 100% retrieve and replace said hat if Ben ever does manage to get it off.

Tess likely gets a flouncy sun hat. She would promptly change into swimwear and go hangout in the Caribbean Inlet.

Kylo comes pre-hatted! Okay, it's a helmet. Whatever. It's on his head. He thinks it's super cool.

Creed would get a US Army hat. He'll hate it, but after several attempts to remove it he'll give in and grump through the rest of the day.

Cecil would get something somewhat impractical like this, and he'd rock that shit. He'd probably try to take it home.

Klaus would be given an army helmet. Right now, he'd be confused as hell. Later, he might cry.So.. you know, such winning.

Jonathan would probably get a blindfold, which while not technically a hat, goes on the head, and he would be Several Shades of Salty about it. So you know, fun.

Cirava sees this and complains that their eyepatch is, like, half a blindfold, and totally a head accessory, and they still had to wear this dumb bee hat.

Fairy Fixit already wears her stylish hardhat. Even though it dulls her space sense, she seems not to mind and compensates well enough that she wears it all the time.

Amascut occasionally wears a tiara that looks a lot like cat ears in canon. She is either oddly unaware or oddly comfortable with it.

Goes without saying almost that Yamato would have one of those wolf caps.
