Monday DE: May The Fourth Be With You

Gooooooooooood morning, Milliways!

Happy Bank Holiday to everyone who has today off work (such as that even means anything anymore) and remember, Brits: Friday is our Bank Holiday instead!

More importantly still, and a holiday we can all get behind: Happy Star Wars Day!

As such, your DE today is as follows:

- If your pups are not already from the Star Wars 'verse, what role would they play if they were? Would they be a Jedi, a Rebellion soldier or pilot, Spice dealer or Sith?

- If your pups are from Star Wars, what other role in the 'verse would they play if things were different? Is there a path they wish they could have taken, or a role they would be more suited for?

The Star Wars Boys:
R2-D2: The most obvious fit is AI created by an important character who is approximately chaotic but deeply good-aligned. Probably rebels against creator to help a rebellion. As a human... Hmm. I am reasonably sure R2 can't speak--can hear, I think, but can't speak. But like, obviously the hacker. It's R2. Hacking and chaos are his shtick. I think in DC universe he's basically Oracle plus being mute. 3P0 is obviously his interpreter. Maybe-maybe not deaf, haven't quite sounded out mute v deaf or variants but I have some ideas of specifics. I would need to sound out a friend on the details before committing, for reasons.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: I mean, besides fallen former-deuteragonist, which is a pretty good role in general? Hmm. In an urban fantasy-esque setting, or maybe any shapeshifter setting, I could see him being born to race of approximately monsters and going through a rebellion-falls in love-manipulated into killing her-broken returns home and is enforcer until kidlets. Also, honestly, in a world with functional mental healthcare, he would make a great teacher. But someone needs to treat the borderline personality disorder first.

The Non-Star Wars people:
Lois: Daughter of an officer, honestly probably one who was a Republic officer and stayed loyal after transition to Empire. Eventually is Rebellion intelligence agent until she gets busted and flees to join the Rebellion proper, is on something like comms because she can fight but she's not a front liner. Possibly runs some covert ops sometimes. I also kind of like the idea of maybe her mom actually being Mandalorian, though her dad is not, and her mom is relatively quiet about this (possible former Death Watch ties?) but teaches her daughters in secret. Lucy and Lois probably go very different directions with this.

Tavi: Well let's see: orphan farm boy who grows up with aunt and uncle and turns out he has one parent still alive who abused him, does really stupid-ass daring rescues with improbable luck and absolutely no sense of self-preservation, has latent magic rather larger than even people with magic, has quiet extra power of precognition, gets magical weapon handed down to him, metalcrafted swords in Alera throw sparks and can cut through almost anything look they are practically laser swords except with metal and magic, has literal soul-bond with a former enemy he basically turns after lots of mutual life-saving, makes unlikely friends all over the place and sometimes/often out of former enemies, fights very strongly for democracy and against anything from simple power-hunger to probable-actual-fascism, passionately against slavery, pushes for greater democracy, fights alien race that is trying to invade. And Tavi would honestly love a chance to do some adventuring and not have to be an emperor, that alternate life sounds great and so relaxing and never mind how many near-death encounters there are.

Tavi is literally a Skywalker, and frankly is specifically a highly modified Luke. Look, I don't make the rules here.

(Orphan farm kids need a union.)

Derius: As a Gen-2 Skywalker, he is almost certainly totally fucked one way or another. He's probably the quiet and steady one who just does his best to survive. Not sure whether or not he would. Honestly his siblings tend to be the ones more likely to get themselves killed. He'd make a great teacher of new generation of Jedi! He would totally love that and it's absolutely what he does.

Bastion: Defector/deserter from the prequel-era droid army, or a particularly taciturn clone. It's very difficult to picture a version of Bastion who isn't some kind of manufactured soldier but SWverse has lots of those.

Thurlow: Eccentric polymath researcher by day, smuggler and slicer by night, has their own spaceship and made contributions to its design but it's probably not called "the Yellow Zubmarine" in this universe. Allies themself with the Rebellion because they despise the Empire and everything it stands for, but doesn't make being a rebel their full-time job; they're not self-sacrificing enough for that.

Wormwood: Weird plant-alien, whose species is mysterious and who personally grew up as an orphan who's never met another of their kind, picked up by a world-hopping band of rebels because they want to do the right thing.

Cirava might not change that much since they're already just trying to get through their day under the heel of an interstellar empire, and all I've come up with for Aradia or Wilson is that Aradia's a pretty strong Force user.

Star Wars pups:
Ahsoka...honestly I can't think of any role beyond idealized Jedi. I am totally biased but I really feel Ahsoka became what the Jedi should have adapted to be.

Sabine was already a Bounty Hunter so maybe she falls in with a smuggler crew for a while instead of the Specters? I can see her working fairly well for a while until her conscious starts eating at her and she ends up falling into the Rebellion anyway.

Non-Star Wars pups:
Viv would have to be a droid working with the Rebellion. I'd guess a protocol droid as C-3PO but she'd be a lot less nervous. She'd be good with hacking systems.

Jessica would totes be a former Imperial assassin or ISB trained who either defects to the Rebellion or disappears to be a smuggler before discovering the Rebellion and working for Rebel Intelligence.

Danny would be a Guardian fo the Whills who was out in space when Jedha was destroyed and joins the Rebellion out of guilt for not being there.

Ben Hargreeves...I'm not sure. Reginald being Imperial doesn't make sense to me. Maybe Reginald was a jedi who left the order, flew off into Wild Space after finding 10 force sensitive children, and tried to raise them as he thought the Order should be raising and training children? Or maybe he's driven by a vision of the Clone Wars and the Empire, and so he's trying to train jedi who can break the prophecy? Either way, Ben died and is a Force ghost who only Klaus can see.

Dog would have to be a Force entity, like the Son and Daughter, or the Force Priestesses. I’m not sure if she is active in trying to bring balance to the Force through the actions of mortals or not.

Tybalt is a suave ass smuggler who leads a small empire he took over after killing his adoptive father who was an Imperial sympathizer. Now he tries to not sell to the Empire but doesn't always get a choice in the matter. He ends up being perfectly tailored for the Rebellion.
bjornwilde: (01: Alustin Haber)

[personal profile] bjornwilde 2020-05-05 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
And newest pup:
Alustin would be a jedi working with Jocasta. He usually travels the galaxy aquiring and verifying data for her, as well as collecting overdue materials. And in the process, picking up the stray bit of intel to lead the Council on matters that need attention.

Amascut: obvious Sith but one who finds political power and pursuit of immortality particularly distasteful. Just a hard to kill bag of chaos who is just as likely to destroy a Sith led Empire as she is to destroy a Jedi led police force. In the prequels she would happily participate in Palpatine's schemes but after the formation of the Empire she'd likely turn into a Saw Gerrera style terrorist.

Fairy Fixit: Well, it all depends on what the Fairy Queen wants, but my best guess is that the Zanarians would fall in with the Separatist Alliance. Which likely means bad things for the Queen. That being said Fairy Fixit would be a hyperspace researcher/hyperdrive engineer.

Puffy, being a porg, wouldn't be anything else but a porg. Having made friends with Chewie and then Hondo, he's gone from being a Resistance ... or is it Rebellion? porg to a totally not a smuggler/pirate porg. The closet thing to a path not taken for him, is to have stayed on Ach-To. Or not have made friends with Chewie and Hondo. But that would mean less food on his end and Puffy is a porg that thinks by his stomach. He wouldn't go anywhere near Kylo Ren because he is an evil son of a bitch and Porgs are light side creatures. So the likelihood of him joining the First Order is slim. Especially since they keep on threatening to eat him!!!! :O
