How is everyone holding up? Well I hope. Things are things.

Anyway, today's topic is a break from the fic. I know we have fun but I don't want to burn us out. But I was thinking, since Apps have rolled over and are open, and it's been a while since we've done a character profile review, it might be nice to have one of those. The idea is simple, post in with the pup(s) you'd like another set of eyes to look over the profile to see if there is any information that might be missing or any canon explanations that might not be clear to anyone not familiar with said canon.

If you'd like grammar edit, specify. Otherwise, let's just keep this to clarity and possible missing information.

For serious, what kind of information would be useful other than "this is a lion cub?"

Because I am a master of overthinking stuff:

- is the lion speaking English, and if not can anyone tell that the bar's translation spell is in effect?

- will the lion be like 'wtf a hairless monkey'?

- will the lion be able to talk to the pets of human patrons?

... I overcomplicate things a lot.

- No, and yes.
- Definitely yes
- This is up to the muns! But personally I prefer 'yes' because of the metaphysical complications of there being animals he can't talk to...

Yes, but is it necessary? Does the Force need to be over-explained in journal entry/user info, or can we just do like canon and wing it? (I would 100% READ anything linked in the userinfo, but I'm a total weirdo.)

I like the idea of a linked page, cause then folks who might be curious as to how you and Obi_wan view the Force can check it out and those that don't can skip. I think it can be very interesting to see how different pups/muns view the same thing.

So here's the question - what do you need from pups who aren't from ridiculously well known canons?

How can I make you want to play with Sefton?

What do you need to know? Do you need to know his accent and his personal history?

Is it actually worth explaining how his Sight works? Do you need to know what he can see about your pups? (Spoiler: I'ma make it up)

Should I include a warning about the canons that his canon has rendered fictional? (He's met the writer Neil Gaiman and an entire plot is built around the existence of the Sherlock Holmes novels)

A little more guidance as to what kinds of things the Sight picks up might be useful, yeah, even if canon isn't super specific.

It's less that canon isn't super specific, so much as canon doesn't deal with inter-dimensional magical theory. But point taken!

I would like to know:
A) what canon she is from?
2) How she'd "read" on being met by someone like Obi-Wan. Can witches identify each other in canon? Is magic internal, like Harry Potter, entirely external, like Sefton's canon, or a bit of both, like the Force?

On the question before I check profiles: Yes, I personally like to know, because like, if I'm going to tag a canonmate, I'm going to want to know if they're gonna say "OMG Mufasa D: D: D:"

Okay I have no critique for Jon's profile, but I'm reading the powers section and OH MY GOD. I can't tell if he needs to thread with all of mine or STAY AWAY.

Is both an option?

If it helps, after a short period of being entirely clueless about what he's doing, he does his damnedest to not accidentally use said powers.

Cecil - okay, I'm familiar with his canon (listened until about last year sometime) and I think the profile is neat, but I personally wouldn't tag him if I didn't know you the mun? (I WOULD reply to any tags if Cecil tagged me and also I DO trust you so I would anyway.)

I don't know, I want something a little more concrete because of the way I play? So not having a physical description feels wrong.

BUT. That is obviously your choice and I totally respect it and think it's an amazing creative decision. But it's risky.

I'm debating that choice, no lies, because in my head it would be used more - but I don't think enough people listen to WTNV/get that deep into its quirks for it to be a Thing. So maybe I should just pick my favorite and run with it. Then I could play with moving tattoos, because if I get to pick, Cecil gets moving tattoos.

I feel your pain, though, as someone who has MANY TIMES debated bringing in Runner 5, who doesn't even have a canonical *voice* let alone gender or physical description. It changes canon somewhat to fill in those gaps.

I probably still wouldn't pick a PB for him, if only because HOW, and I'm not a good enough artist to draw him. And my three fav headcanons for him all carry their own spins on how they could change the pup (though in the bubble that is Night Vale, probably wouldn't change him at all), and... augh.

To make it most difficult, none of my headcanons look like Cecil Baldwin, his voice actor. Which makes live shows fun. :D

I dunno, I like the thing where Cecil's appearance beyond his average-sized body type depends on how the mun he's threading with imagines him. (Although you could add the tattoos as a constant element while still having the rest in flux.)
