Thursday DE: The Hall of Mirrors
We are getting closer to the weekend!
Today let's talk faces, specifically the faces we chose or were chosen for our pups by canon. Are there any faces you've thought of instead of who you use? Is there a face you have in mind if you were to gender swap or race bend the pup?

That said, I really love all the various interpretations of Sunshine out there. They vary wildly (even in cover-art for the book) as canon doesn't give her a physical description apart from subjective remarks like how her hair actually looks better if she doesn't brush it too often, how she feels that she looks awful dressed in black, and how another character describes her, "skinny, with a fierce look on her face."
Though the fandom is small (and hard to find, thanks generic-word canon title) there have been really good fanart and imageboards on Tumblr of her appearance.

Bex won over because I could find slightly better icons for them, although they're a little younger than I picture 5. Definitely, though, their icons have influenced my playing.

I think she's much better in this role than even a rule 63 Matt (who I also have a journal for. The Pb is an actress who has played blind but isn't blind, and isn't even a redhead, but somehow works.)

I know my most recent PB search was for Alustin. Canon is vague in describing him, but I noticed the author is careful to detail when a character has either dark skin or pale skin, so I decided he has mid, to dark skin tones and went from there, cause I am tired of fantasy so white. I ended up with Dev Patel as his facial expressions and body language fit the pup in my head best. I am not sure whom I'd chose for a gender-bend, but I would be sure to stick with someone of Pakistani or Indian heritage.
Viv does have a brief time where she is human and if I ever get her there I was thinking I'd use Zenayda if I decide not to use comic panels for the icons. Not committed to using Zenayda, but I know I want a WoC.
The best side character I can think of for this is Thorn, aka Nyrielle Tam for a series of Eberron D&D novels. She was a half-elf and kind of a James Bond/Black Widow and I am still tempted to give her a try. Canon states she has red hair and freckles, but again fantasy so white. Plus I just love black or brown elves. I went through a lot of different actresses (Hannah John-Kamen, Danay Garcia, and Alycia Debnam were the strongest faces) until I saw Lyndie Greenwood and was like, that's her!

Amascut does come from a video game canon, the problem is that she has several in-game 3d models, all with different outfits (except for her 3 most recent appearances), different skin tones, different hair color (but still reddish), even a completely different face in one of them. In-canon, the cats explain this away by saying that she exhausts her physical shell pretty often and has to switch bodies. No other gods do that but then no other god tries as hard to look like an ordinary unpowered human. But she is also "playing" different people too, so the cats might be lying or not know she is switching appearances on purpose. Out of canon - I think it might have more to do with what the game engine was capable of rendering when a particular piece of content was developed. Anyway, skin tone - Yasmin feels a little too light-skinned sometimes but she is genuinely Egyptian, that's just how colorism works in Egyptian cinema I guess. Fanart lately has be bending toward dark skinned and interpreting her oddly modeled hair in recent appearances as dreadlocks so it might not even be race-bending to bring her in like that one day. Beyond reddish hair and not being old, male, or pale, there don't seem to be any set rules about Amascut's appearance in game. It's only recently that she has begun wearing anything iconic like a normal video game character who doesn't change clothes between appearances.
I only have an idea of who could stand in as an age bent older Amascut - Carrie Fisher, but only because Yasmin has an eerily similar grin to the one Carrie had when she was younger. Gender bends, no clue.
For Fairy Fixit, she's got weird anime-like proportions with an eye-to-skull ratio that is more insectlike than anything else. There isn't really anyone who matches that description, but a while back Maru suggested Amanda Seyfried. I messed with the size of her eyes for an icon. I am not exactly satisfied with it but not enough to do anything more with it.
