Wednesday DE: Elemental affinities.

Since I've been playing a lot of Genshin Impact lately, here's a simple one inspired by it: So, Genshin Impact has seven elemental alignments for its characters: Wind, Fire, Earth, Electricity, Plants, Water, and Ice.

Which element would fit your character best, and why?

For an optional extra question, your character is now a part of your typical RPG-ish fantasy world. What is the fantasy-verse version of them like?

There's an obvious answer to this.

I think both Wilson and Bastion would be Electricity-aligned - Wilson because he works with it, Bastion because it has the most in common with their artificial nature - Aradia would be Earth because she likes archaeology and burial practices, and Thurlow would be Fire. More because of how entangled they become with the Correspondence's fiery letters than anything super intrinsic to their character, but I've described their opinions as "incendiary" on occasion and it wasn't just for the sake of a Correspondence pun.

Cirava's a little harder to place; I was torn between Water and Wind, but I'm thinking Water is the better metaphor for their go-with-the-flow personality and habit of going around difficulties rather than through them.

All of mine are very simple:

Zuko is Fire, Zenigata is Earth, and Lan Zhan attunes to his clan's affinity, Wood. (Though there's great arguments for both Ice and Wind for him too.)

Lois: Wind, I think! Her thing about flying, there's the whole "wind and speech and spreading" thing, and a little bit of darting around.

Star Wars Boys: ....... I mean.... R2 runs on electricity, literally, and Anakin-- uh. Well. Soooo Electricity.

Okay, I'm spending SO much time on this and coming up with 'well out of these five picks I made...' so up for debate on all, because boys, really, so helpful.

Klaus: Electricity - what with the sparks thrown by the kids when they get their powers going, and a vague connection between electricity and channeling spirit energy and... yeah. I'm just imagining a pissed-off Klaus cutting the lights and letting the ghosts loose.

Jon: Uuuuuuh.... not fire. Or earth. .... halp?

Wei Wuxian: Water or wind. I mean, Yunmeng boy, fluid fighting style, the link between necromancy and AtLA bloodbending so water makes sense, but... fights with a wind weapon/whistling so...

Cecil: Electricity. I like the fanons that Cecil has a connection with the recording equipment.

Yamato is Ice, this being his element in canon already.

Eden, like all Kingdom Hearts protagonists, is Wind.

Ahsoka is hard for this as I usually think of her element as light. I'll say water for this, for the classical view that she both shapes and is shaped by her environment.

Sabine is fire. Easy peasy.

Jessica is electricity, as is Viv. It would be tempting to say wind for Viv as she's very cerebral as well as being able to alter her density.

Alustin is either fire for his curiosity and personality or plant for his paper magic.

Ben feels like water to me. Mostly because he is emotionally wise and the whole tentacle thing.

Tybalt has to be shadows. I know that's not an option but he is a cat and a king and so making his own rules.

Wen Qing is fire, both for personality and her healing.

Barry is electricity, obviously.

Cisco... I'm gonna say electricity too, but for different reasons than Barry. He doesn't have the Speedforce connection, but when his powers manifest there's a certain charged aspect to Vibe's abilities. And he's an engineer and inventor and that involves electricity and such.

Matt is fire, for his passion, anger and the devil thing.

Logan is earth, for his wildness and affinity to nature.
