Lan Zhan: Speak about how you feel and don't hide your support for someone. Don't hide from your feelings. Question all rules. A good father makes a world of difference. Trust those who have earned it. Being a petty bitch is always an option. Don't speak to those not worth your time or regard. Arguing with an idiot is like wrestling a pig in shit: you stink and the pig likes it. The sins of the father do not need to be heaped on the shoulders of his son. Origin, class, and wealth mean nothing in a person's worth: action and character mean everything.

Zuko: Your family is a choice, and not necessarily forged in blood. Honor is personal, no one can give it or take it from you. You can atone for mistakes, but you should not take the sins of others on your own back. Something that has passed through the flames has been forged stronger than ever. Strength of bending doesn't mean strength of character. Justice means compassion, but it also means punishment - strive to be fair in both. Don't taint a win with petty gloating. When you do someone wrong, make it right with action, not just words.

Zenigata: Never, ever give up. Sometimes a bad man and a good man are the same man. Justice is mutable. Cops are corruptible. Drink your respect women juice. Honor your debts, and they'll be honored in turn. Nearly every person deserves a second chance; shooting to kill is stealing that chance from someone who can come back from the edge. Don't leave trauma unaddressed. Having a family is work, and requires time and investment - don't have one lightly. Everybody you love will eventually die or leave you, so maybe just bottle all those particular feelings up and stay married to your work. Accept defeat with as much grace as possible; if not, chew your hat or whatever else is easily stuck in your mouth.
