Viv: Mega Man, although Min Min looks good to her as well.

Ahsoka: Lucina

Sabine: Samus in the power suit.

Ben: I want to say Inkling, but I don't know if he'd stick with the cephalopod theme.

Wen Qing is fascinated by Bayonetta and so plays her to see more of her.

Tybalt: Ganondorf and I don't know why.

Alustin: Kirby.

Finally answering my own DE:

Yamato would 100% pick Dark Pit. He can relate to a character largely defined by his rivalry with a charismatic idiot.

Eden would pick Ridley.

But seriously:

Gaster would probably main any character that can teleport - maybe Mewtwo, since it's close to his own skillset in terms of fighting (and they're a science experiment in canon) or Greninja.

Urania...gonna go with Falco for the space theme?

Phoenix would main either Sonic (for also being spiky and blue) or Jigglypuff (for also being a Lethal Joke Character both in his own game and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3).

Snufkin would main The Villager because he reminds him of Moomintroll.
