Monday DE: Best Served Cold

Welcome to another Monday, Milliways!

Inspired by Eric nicking his last DE directly from my brain (how rude): how does your pup go about getting revenge? Do they even care about revenge at all?

Not bothering to log out of an old character journal for this as I mean to be writing some AU fix-it fic for her.

Ahsoka will avenge if the need and opportunity present themself in an immediate fashion. She will not go on a quest or harbor the urge, but if faced with the need and the chance she will take it. See "Twilight of the Apprentice".

Sabine gets the urge and will act on it, but will temper it for whatever is best for the Rebellion. See "Protector of Concord Dawn".

Alustin will avenge but not go for revenge, and you will not see it coming. He will harbor the urge/plan for avenging for however long it takes and the guilty party will likely never see it coming.

Tybalt is another who would go for avenging and even revenge, but he will not act unless his Court is safe from his actions. He has even let go of the avenging and his Court, exiling himself from Londinium for the sake of his Court.

Ben is not one for vengeance I think.

Wen Qing wasn't one for vengeance as she had her brother and clan to worry about. That might be different now.

Viv does not believe in vengeance and would not act. I think. Recent panels in Champions might suggest otherwise but I am waiting until the storyline is finished to be sure.

ETA: I forgot Jessica Drew! I will say she has the potential for obsessive revenge and will carry a grudge, but it seems like it needs to be extreme circumstances for her to go there. HYDRA is the exception. She even got over her rage at skrulls and helped save a few, but HYDRA will always get her rage.

Barry: Revenge is never a motivator for Barry, even in those times when he's upset and angry enough that he thinks he wants it, he never follows through. Right now his whole thing with finding the Man in Yellow is about gaining what he needs to prove his father's innocence, and later in canon when Barry has the chance to take revenge he doesn't.

Cisco: The only real revenge Cisco has taken is his success. Spending his whole life outshined by his brother and underappreciated by his family, Cisco's revenge came by becoming an awesome engineer and being employed at such a young age by one of the world's most technologically advanced scientific laboratories. His family still doesn't really get it or care, but Cisco feels better about himself because of it.

Matt: Mostly violently. Preferably with his bare hands. Sometimes though, Matt gets revenge through the lawyer side of things. But, when that goes sideways and the courts fail he definitely takes things back into his own hands.

Logan: Logan is not a person to piss off. He will hunt you down to the ends of the earth and beyond, he will kill you, and he'll make it hurt. A Lot.

YT doesn’t usually care about revenge. Her father walked out on the family when she was young, and she knows someone who would fit him for a pair of cement shoes if she asked, but she does not care enough about her dad to want him dead.

Abe no Seimei always gives someone the chance to repent and make amends. If they don’t take that chance, it’s the proverbial death by a thousand cuts. Proverbial death because financial and social ruin are much more fun to engineer than actually bumping someone off.

Murderbot will go scorched-earth on anyone who even comes close to harming its clients and/or friends. If nobody talks it down, well, mutually assured destruction is always an option.

Wei Wuxian will pretty much never avenge himself. It doesn't occur as a thing that's important. He will destroy someone he's targeting for revenge for someone else. That he has no problem with. It will be bloody, it will be dramatic, it may be drawn-out... no half measures here. He still has no regrets about actually hunting down the people who hurt his clan... though he is a little disturbed about how much he enjoyed it, that's probably not good.

Jon Sims would say, 100% honestly, that he is not a vengeful man. Jon Sims is lying to himself. He eventually stops this.

Klaus is not so much about the vengeance thing, if only because a) he's not exactly a big man and b) if he went so far as to kill someone, they'd just haunt him, it's a thing, it's annoying.

Cecil is vengeful, and petty. He also forgets and forgives stupidly easily, so it's a mixed bag.

Yamato doesn't usually go in for revenge. Most things aren't worth revenge, and he won't concern itself with the idea of taking revenge. In situations where revenge might occur to him -- somebody's hurt Takeru, usually -- he generally foregoes revenge entirely in favour of clinically removing the problem.

This is basically what happens to Pinocchimon. That entire arc involves Pinocchimon pushing and pushing and pushing, putting Takeru in danger, toying with Yamato, threatening his friends while he's not there, manipulating Yamato into fighting Taichi, killing Jureimon, and on and on and on. The result isn't revenge so much as it is Yamato coldly demonstrating that he is the only Chosen capable of one-shotting a Dark Master, when he drops all of his ideas of honour.

Eden lacks the capability for desiring revenge. For now, at least.

Zuko: No revenge here. He could have taken it ten times over on his father, but he won't.

Lan Zhan: PETTY REVENGE. All the time. He's not big on REVENGE!! But petty little slights are never forgotten and grudges are held.

Zenigata Koichi: Zenigata does not, as a rule, do revenge. Justice? Yes. Revenge? No. Sometimes, though, if you squint-- there's a sprinkling of vengeance in the justice.
