"No, none for you."

"I mean, what's the big deal about a human's rolls, anyway?"

[sunbaked_baker]

"They're not on the menu, that's what."

[vexingmesmer]

"So are a lot of things. Do you think that makes you special, poppet?"

[sunbaked_baker]

"You've clearly not talked to any of my customers."

[vexingmesmer]

Vex gives the biggest eyeroll. "Alright, mother may I please have an extra special cinnamon roll? Will that make you happy?"

[sunbaked_baker]

"I like how you apparently replied without hearing me the first time," she laughs dryly, giving him a look. "No, none for you."

[vexingmesmer]

Vex just grins.

"And what if you changed your mind?"

Vex makes a little gesture -- looking to grab control of her body, puppet it into handing over the plate of rolls.

"You would have time enough to regret it," she assures him, plainly, smile gone.

He would not be the first to try.

[vexingmesmer]

Vex lets his tendril of power sneak out, try to find a grip on her to puppet her limbs, try and make them obey. She said he'd live to regret it, so of course, he has to test the theory.

You know, like an asshole.

Sunshine feels that pressure on her will, feel her hands begin to move. She's felt similar to it, before -

(His will closed upon hers like a steel clamp, stifling all thought.)

(Resisting the pull to meet that awful gaze felt like willing her heart not to beat.)

- and the sunlight web set into her skin, previously quiescent and faint, flares into life in response, the light and heat of its red-gold corona lifting her hair to blend in with the flames blazing there.

The benefit to being very familiar with the Milliways kitchens is knowing where everything is. Which includes, of course, every last knife.

...which are making an appearance now, lifting from their knife-blocks and cabinet drawers, their tips pointing inexorably at the figure in front of Sunshine.

"No-- no -- no violence in the bar! No vioLENCE in the BAR!" Vex's voice ratchets up squeakily and he dropped his tenuous control of her limbs and lifted his arms to shield himself FROM KNIVES???? "I was just playing, love, really! Blood King's balls, girl!"

[sunbaked_baker]

"I don't play. Not like that," she replies. "Keep your will out of other people's minds."

[vexingmesmer]

"Duly noted! Keep the hands in my pockets at all time, you got it, Sunshine." Vex obedient turns to sitting down at the bar and keeping his hands below it. (He's not even fiddling with himself, so that's definitely good behavior.)

If he could sweat, though, he'd absolutely be soaked with it.
