[ pinch-hit daily entertainment ]

Good morning, all! Happy Friday (where applicable), and happy pre-holiday weekend (again, where applicable!). [personal profile] thebattycakes is currently traveling, so I'm coming to you live (i.e., "I'm not a cat") with a pinch-hit edition of today's DE.

Comment with your pup(s) — current and not-so-current/choose your own adventure! Other folks will tag in to ask about at least one of your characters, and you'll respond with any or all of the following:

→ why you play(ed) this character;
→ your favorite moment in canon for this character;
→ your favorite piece of headcanon for this character;
→ something about this character that makes you laugh;
→ something about this character that makes you teary-eyed; and/or
→ what you'd miss most (or, if the character is retired/no longer active, what you do miss most) about playing this character.

Consider this open all weekend, y'all, and have at. ♥

Favorite moment in canon for WWX?

Something that makes you laugh for Ace?

Why play Katya?

So, for WWX, I have a lot of favorite moments (who is surprised?)
- For, like, his sake? That moment on the Koi Tower stairs when Lan Zhan very emphatically tells the cultivation world to stick it up their arse and sticks with Wei Ying. Like... the last time someone visibly stuck up for him like that was way back at the Night Hunt with Jiang Yanli and even then it had been tempered by the fact he was abandoned five minutes later for the Peacock. That shit doesn't happen to WWX. Until it does.
- For like, sheer visual gorgeousness? WWX storming the Jin work camp, resentful energy boiling in his wake. Like, holy crap. I mean, pretty much every moment where WWX cuts loose is gorgeous, but there's something about that moment right after we see Wen Qing sobbing over her brother and everything's gone to shit and he's too late and WHOOP WWX is gonna lay down the hurt.
Second place goes to 'hey Lan Zhan hold my beer I'm gonna go ruin JGY's archery contest and look sexy in a blindfold while doing so'. Sexy archery would have won but WWX can't hold his bow straight. C'mon, man.
- For a good laugh? WWX running from Fairy. Who's a big brave necromancer? Mmm?
- Runner up scenes include 'inducing vomiting through stripping: cave edition', 'learning our numbers with a severely pissed off WWX', 'swordplay in the moonlight, yes LZ would like that to be a euphemism', 'punch me harder, you coward: Yiling edition'

Ahem.

I think for Ace the thing that makes me laugh is how Very Far I got from where the audiobooks take her - Ace in the audiobooks (from what I infer, because I have so audio/visual/stuff to get through that I can't even imagine taking those on now) goes very lone wolf, and only sorta gets back to being around other people in a sort of 'I live here but mostly to guard you' sort of way. Meanwhile Milli!Ace is like 'I like you, LETS BE FAMILY' and adopts half her friends. I like my way better, natch.

So as mentioned above, I love pups with a duality to them, and Katya is like... extreme Russian version. On one hand: she loves glitter and gaudy jewelry and throwing parties and drinks too much and spends her days off work listening to her partner's bad poetry and flirts so very awkwardly with said partner and has All The Dogs and she's just... this fluffy, kinda nerdy, kinda party-girl, easy-going chick. On the other hand, she's a battle mage who is renowned for being absolutely brutal in fights, basically a major player in the battle between Light and Dark, insanely loyal to her side, and will lay waste to anyone her boss tells her to. She will literally turn into a tiger and maul people. And these are both true.

(also, while the Watch series 100% needs more than three female main characters, because what, I love how they're all these tiny, innocent looking ladies who will Eff Your Shit Up.)
