Friday DE: the torch is lit

Helloooooooo Milliways! Welcome to Friday.

The Olympics are here at last! Opening ceremonies are tonight or have already happened, depending on where you exist on the Timeline. If there were a competition at the end of the universe, what events would your pup try and medal in?

This is Milliways, so contests can expand beyond physical feats. Certainly we have strong folks who can bench press a planet and take gold there, and Steve Rogers will probably bury the competition in the discus, but maybe your pup would excel somewhere else. Gold in telekinetic lifting, bronze or better in bad guy ass kicking, it's going to be close deciding who ends up on the podium (or under it) when the drinking contests start.

Name the event(s) your pups would compete in and if you see someone else post one that yours would sign-up for, tag on to join the friendly competition.

I'm thinking Jess'd place in Olympic Snarking, maybe even getting Gold but there is a lot of competition out there.

Jean would totally knock that out of the park in telekinetic lifting out of the park. Or like incredibly finite uses of it, like piecing a billion diamond shards back into the correct form of a real person. On telepathy on a scale that only keeps getting bigger (it's only so fun, kids, to hear every person on Earth from the moon, you know, 30 earth-sized planet spaces from that planet in question), and has been used for a million things, including turning all psychic energy around her into more telekinesis, too.

Allison could take a full-on reality manipulation competition down to a single word usage so easy. #more

Sara is not allowed to participate. Her gold medal is basically in killing people. (Her bronze medal is in collecting waywardly grey moral people and giving them second chances to still do some good with those unchanged morally grey lives.)

I enjoy watching the Olympics, love seeing all the people who are so good at their particular sports. Though sometimes the commentary can be annoying.

For Cassian, I've written him as an Olympic level ice skater but in terms of his skills, one of the marksman sports would suit him best. Though I could also see him being a sports climber or a hand-to-hand fighter. If there were something more like aviation sports, that he would do great at.

Hm, I can't think of anything for Quentin other than maybe fencing though he could probably do well in something involving illusions. How fast can you break one or create a good one.

Charles would do well with anything that uses his telepathy though I think that's a weird skill for testing. There's an amazing series of books called The Blending by I think Sara Green, definitely Green last name about people with various skills improving. One of them is basically telepathy and they're tested by how they can change people's emotions. In my mind for Charles, that's one of the easier things to do.

Moist has a couple of schemes going and doing well with forgeries.

Sameth plays cricket and rugby, cricket's not at the Olympics but rugby is, he'd also do well with fencing and something like how fast can you do certain Charter spells.

Will would be doing archery or perhaps one of the hand-to-hand fighting sports.

William's definitely a horse person and marksman but he'd fit better at a rodeo than the Olympics.

Since Ivan has been well trained by the Barrayaran army, I could see him competing in hand-to-hand, marksman, horse back riding.

I'm not sure about Tumnus or Demeter.

With all of his enhancements and the like, Peter could do pretty much all of the sports... in costume. (He's still pretending he is two different ppl, okay?) Track and field events, gymnastics (honestly, he's better suited for the women's events b/c he would KILL IT on beam), and trampoline.

Power-specific events - web slinging, swinging, hammocking....

With his human abilities? Advanced robot building? Computer construction from junk? Wiseassery?


Harry - welp, he discovered his powers doing track and field stuff as a kid (long jump). He's like 6'8" so he can medal in getting shit off the top shelf. He has like no coordination, so they won't let him on the basketball team.

Wizard powers - long distance throwing via wind current, finding lost stuff, pissing people off just by opening his mouth (or existing in some cases) - he'll battle out Jess up there in snarking. (Tho this last one isn't specifically wizard-related, but that prolly just made it worse. XD)

With added Winter power - all the winter sports are belong to him. He literally doesn't slip on ice anymore, so he will own your ass in anything ice related.

I'm thinking Ahsoka could compete in either fencing or something acrobatic/gymnastic. Or an obstacle course like American Ninja! She'd definitely place in something like that.
