Meet some of the crew of Starfleet's newest deep-space explorer, the USS Lovecraft:

Wei Wuxian: Chief Engineer, answers most questions about how the engines are holding together with either long, intricately-detailed technical rants or 'you don't want to know', invents a new toy for the away-teams every week, will debate you at length about the merits of various alcohols, is known for holing himself up in the Jefferies tubes somewhere deep in the bowels of the ship and playing his dizi, which makes for some creepy-ass echoes throughout the ship.

Jonathan Sims: Captain, isn't entirely sure why he got this promotion or exactly how to 'captain', thought he was applying for a different job altogether, is determined that no one will find out that he has no idea what he's doing. Brash, irritable, will move heaven and earth to protect his crew.

Cecil Palmer: Communications Chief, known for talking the ear off any port authority official that he can, has an unfortunate tendency (or fortunate, depending on how slow the shift has been) to wander off mid-ship-bulletin into monologues about... anything, honestly, he just goes off and there's no stopping him. May or may not be more than a little psychic, is decidedly coy on the subject. No one is entirely sure what he looks like. No, he's not hidden from the crew, he's right there, but... I mean, just try to describe one thing about him. Something other than his voice. Right?

Klaus Hargreeves: Chief Medical Officer. No one, least of all Klaus, knows how he got this job. He's amazingly well-versed on all things pharmacological, and his sex-ed talks are legendary. His uniform choices are... exceptionally not up to code. No one has yet gotten him to change this.

Zhang Chengling: Ensign, command track. Honestly, completely out to sea here, his family has always been Starfleet officers so he was just doing his family duty when he applied an now he's here and he just wants to go home to his two gay dads, okay?

After pondering 'what are my favourite canons' for a while, all I came up with is Psycho-Pass, and I figure that that's an easy one, because Yamato is already pretty similar to the main character anyway.
