Subbing for Bethan today and let’s play What If?

For those unfamiliar, What If? Is a comic series, and an animated series of Marves that speculates changes in established canon, for example “What if T’Challa had become Star-Lord rather than Peter Quill?” 

So give us “What Ifs” based on your canons  Feel free to present it as Fic if you’d like

Sharon and Bucky's entire relationship and current plot arc is due to a "What If...?" that Aspen and I asked each other at a DragonCon probably five or six years ago: What if Sharon found Bucky before the events of CA:CW?

"First, let me apologize for this. The blood and DNA test was one Hank had set up long ago and I didn't even think to turn it off. I never intended to run a test without your consent."

Jess just blinked warily at Jean Grey, confused. "Is something wrong? Besides my powers glitching, I mean."

Jean sighed and offered a hopeful smile. "No, nothing is wrong and I think we might have an idea why your powers are glitching. See, you're a mutant and we, Hank and I, think your X-gene is reacting to the large dose of radiation you were exposed to and being complicated by the experiments your father performed on you. We can help, or at least Hank thinks he can. He's on his way here now in a quinjet."

(Mixing film canon with comics as I don't recall who did medical stuff for the X-men in the 70s while Hank was with the Avengers.)

I've asked "What if Character X were in the ordinary world?" quite a few times, one of which became my first novel Chiaroscuro and another became my novel Fidele. (You can see the similarities if you squint.) Another third has led to a serial I'm working on.

Then there's Constantine. Last summer I asked myself, "What if Lucifer has a past with John Constantine, and they get a second chance?" and wrote about 40,000 words of fic about it. I have more to say about it, too, but writer's block has stopped that up for a while.
