Have you had to deal with being “jossed” by you canon or characters?
(I’ll edit with a definition of “jossed”—in case anyone doesn’t know— once I am at work.)
ETA: So in looking for a definition, it seems there are two now. Originally it was a random and sudden character death (named after Joss Whedon) but now it seems to be more "A fanwork is jossed when new canon invalidates the story's character backstory, plot, etc."

That is all.
(Sidenote: I always thought getting Jossed was when the creator abruptly killed off one half (or both halves!) of your ship.
God damn you, Whedon.no subject

Marvel: Jess is mostly past this. There was Secret Invasion but that brought her back to the spotlight so I am not that upset by it.
Viv is another story. Writers and Editorial can't seem to decide what to do with the Champions. They seem to want to grab some of that Gen Z lightning but don't quite manage it. Also, Viv seems to always be the one getting the fatal hits, likely because she's an android and not real or some shit.
Alustin actually kind of got jossed at the end of the last book but I am intrigued to see where the author takes it.
Then there's Wen Qing. I'm not even sure where to start with her.

Then there's Zenigata, who gets jossed every time a new special, series or movie comes out. That's just the nature of Lupin. It's like somebody throws down ten puzzles on the floor and says, "Here's your canon!" You put your puzzle together from what you think works well and call it good.

Peter... um... it's the MCU, so give it time. Though, if they off his love interests, isn't that p much SOP in Spidey-land? plus there's the whole 'custody arrangement' between the mouse and sony and who knows how that shit gonna shake out - they both already almost fucked it up once.

I always kind of ignore Raising Steam when thinking about Discworld.
I'm sure the Andor stuff will create all kinds of backstory that conflicts with what little is out there. I'm okay with that, I'll take what works and enjoy getting more. That's the nature of prequels, so trying not to set myself up for too much, just happy for more Cassian.
