You know how little kids have obsessions and will tell you with absolute confidence, at four years old, that when they grow up they're going to be a marine biologist or palaeontologist or something? And sometimes they turn out to actually be 100% right?

What was your character's childhood obsession/dream job? And how did that turn out for them?

I think Bucky spent at least a little while as a kid dreaming about becoming a professional athlete - a baseball player, and of course the dream team for him would have been the Brooklyn Dodgers.

That didn't work out, obviously, but he still likes baseball.

Sharon grew up wanting to be her Aunt Peggy, basically, and that worked out really well for her right up until the point it didn't.

Unlike canon, though, I don't think she actually hared off in completely the other direction.

Tess wanted to be a marine biologist and almost made it there. She dropped out while working on her PhD. Also, it's her 40th birthday today, so Happy Birthday to her!

Creed just wanted to be rich, and so he is.

Kylo wanted to be a jedi like Uncle Luke. We all know how that turned out.

Wanda wanted to be a TV star. So, um?

Wei Wuxian thought growing up that he'd be Jiang Cheng's right-hand man, First Disciple of the Jiang sect, just like his father.

That. Um. Went. It's gone. Yup. I mean, part of him is still helping Jiang Cheng every day, so that counts, right?

Jon Sims just wanted a job where he could read as many books as he liked without anyone bothering him. That. Um. Sorta worked out. >.> Also entirely didn't, so.

Klaus first wanted to be the Very Best Umbrella Academy Superhero. And when he found out what his powers were, and how much they suck, he wanted out. Neither of those things are really going well.

Cecil wanted to be a community radio show host, and he is! Living the dream, in beautiful Night Vale.

Ahsoka always wanted to be a Jedi. To be fair, she never really had a choice but she’s lucky in that she really wanted it.

I think Sabine always wanted to be an artist and a warrior. The engineer and demolitions thing came later.

Jess definitely wanted to be an arachnologist.

Sara wanted to be a doctor and heal people, sssoooo ... she's about as far from that as one can get.

Allison wanted to be a movie star, and pretty much ended up there. As one of the most famous people in the entire world. (It's not as glamorously perfect as a shut-in, real-world & -people oblivious, thirteen-year-olds dreams. Not even a then world-famous child superhero ones.)

Marian wanted to be her mother, which basically would have meant a good lady, a good wife, a good mother. But. Then, history her life happened. And she didn't so much put those dreams away as watch her father's successor drown them in her people's blood. Literally. That girl, and who she are now, would hardly recognize each other.

Star can't remember and it's not important. Everything she is she was meant to be.

Jean's answer is basically "not hated," and (while she's managed to be a model, get a psychology degree, realize her soul is one with one the oldest cosmic entities in the omniverse, die and come back an inordinate amount of times) that really still hasn't happened. At all. ... but she does at least have both of the people she loves, and all of their five children around them, and that's a pretty great second.

Peter - when he was 9, he wanted to be Iron Man. at 14/15, he just wanted to be an Avenger. now? nfi... he just needs to graduate high school first.

Harry - um.... i dunno that it's ever come up in the books? mostly, he just wanted a family... and even that didn't really go well :/
