Thanks to Saph posting in Crackchat while I was trying to come up with something: does your character prefer cats or dogs?

Sunshine is favorable towards both cats and dogs, though prefers dogs just a bit more because they are less likely to jump up onto the counter to investigate/steal whatever food she is working on.

Max likes cats more just because she has been around them more, even if she has never had either a cat or dog as a pet, herself. Chloe's cat Bongo was just as much a part of their crew when she and Chloe played pirates as children.

I am reminded that I need to make icons. Meet Alpine. For anyone who doesn't want to click the link, Alpine is a white cat who Bucky adores. Canon! (Comics canon anyway, because the MCU are sometimes cowards, but I live in hope Alpine will appear there too.)

I'm linking one of the older images of Bucky and Alpine, but Alpine is quite a fixture in the comics now, and a very adorable one.

Wei Wuxian would like to point out that a) they had a whole ass fight over a decade ago about him leaving Yunmeng Jiang so there's no reason for Jiang Cheng to not have dogs at this point and b) he has no idea why there are currently no dogs at Lotus Pier that appears to be a Jiang Cheng problem, and c) Jin Ling has a dog and somehow it was not given by Jiang Cheng, but at least that means that Jiang Cheng cannot be blamed (this time) for the atrocious naming job. Little Fairy his ass. Rotund Fairy more like.

In summary: whut.

And also I basically headcanon that Jiang Cheng figured that little boys should have dogs and he can't have dogs at Lotus Pier (see point b above) and so thought 'Jin Ling should have a dog' but accidentally said it too loud or THOUGHT it too loud or looked at a dog one time and the next thing he knew fucking Jin Guangyao had undercut his dog-getting idea in a futile attempt to one-up him in the eternal struggle to be Best Uncle.

In summary: no one asked you, Wei Wuxian.

Re: Headcanon - yeah, that sounds about right. Kudos to Jiang Cheng for not punching the smug little smile Jin Guangyao would have on his face into the middle of the next century. This? This is growth.

Ahsoka has had bad experiences with cat-like species so she will go with dog.

Sabine goes with either. Loth cats and loth wolves are both pretty keen in her experience.

Jess seems inclined to go with cats but she doesn't trust herself to care for one. I can see her being adopted by a cat though.

Viv likes dogs. In fact she has one, Sparky, who is also a synthezoid. (Viz kinda went a little crazy with the "I must live like a suburban family" thing.)
