How does/would you character talk to friendly animals like pets? Do they talk to them as if they were a person? As if they were a child? Something else?
I thiiiink it's from the "Winter Soldier" solo comic, but I could be wrong. I haven't read it thought every panel I saw from it was filled with joy and glitter.
Winter Soldier volume 2 #1 has Alpine's first appearance! Also in #2, same volume, and in Falcon & Winter Soldier vol 1. I think there are also a couple of appearances in Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty but I'm still backreading things. Anyway, Alpine is here to stay and I am delighted about it.
There's even a spinoff comic with Marvel cats, in which Alpine plays a key role. I haven't tracked that down yet but the very idea amuses me.
Wei Wuxian talks to animals like they are people, and sometimes makes up answers in little animal voices to keep the conversation going.
Klaus... honestly I think the only animals he's running into on the regular are rats in alleyways, and he's not talking to them.
Cecil talks to animals. Cecil talks to everyone. But he especially talks to Khoshekh, his best buddy, who floats three feet off the ground near the sink in the men's bathroom at work.
Jon talks to cats, who obviously understand him because they are cats. He does not talk to other animals.
I don't think Ballister has talked to an animal in his life, except maybe to give instructions to a horse.
Anakin Solo absolutely talks to any animal as if they're a being as intelligent as him. He's shared a room with his brother Jacen for too long not to at least try. (He has little talent for empathy in the same way, though, so it's probably a lot like how I talk to my cat. "Why did you do that?" ... "I see.") He wouldn't try for too long, and doesn't make much effort unless necessary.
Franklin Richards is similar initially, but he DOES have more empathy in that sense and can quickly tell if an animal is intelligent. At least younger Franklin; not too sure about teen Franklin, I'm still behind on those comics...
Taichi Yagami just asks outright if they're a Digimon.
Ahsoka absolutely talks to animals she interacts with as if they were an adult who could understand her, and not just cause the galaxy is a weird place with lots of sapient species.
Jess will treat pets this way but no other animals. She'll even attribute ulterior motives to the pet.
Ben kind of is the pet.
Alustin will treat animals like they are friendly children. He is cautious not to frighten them and does talk down a little.
