Wednesday DE: potluck

Helloooo everybody! Welcome to Wednesday, there is climbing gear over there in the corner if you need a hand getting over the hump this day.

Today's DE:

The holidays are upon us, beginning with the day of thankfulness and gluttony. Today let's focus on the noms and share a recipe!

It can be for anything, holiday related or just something good to eat. Dinners, side dishes, baked goods, it's all good and gravy!

Type out one of your sekrit family recipes handed down through the generations, or just share a linky to a food blog or YouTube video that's got the deets. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a potluck coming up, so share so that others might eat. ;D

Right, I'll let the Devil tempt you with some wholesome, peasant fare on this fine evening (in my case).

Cabbage in white sauce/roux (stewed cabbage)

Take a cabbage head (white is traditional, but a daintier cabbage such as pointed cabbage/sweetheart cabbage is even better) and slice it up.

Put it in a pot with a lightly salted water and boil it for 10 minutes.

Drain and save the water. Put the cabbage aside.

Make a roux: Melt a couple of tablespoons of butter, whisk in about half the amount of flour, and let it colour slightly. Slowly add cream, whisking. If the source is too thick, add some of the water from the cabbages.

Season to taste with nutmeg, salt, and pepper, and add the cabbage in, heating the dish through.

Eat.
