Wednesday DE: aviary of doom

Hello hello, welcome to Wednesday. Today I learned that the Twelve Days of Christmas are not building up to Christmas day, but START on Christmas Day and run until January. I don't know why, I just always thought it was related to (or at least similar to) the Advent Calendar thingies where you get a piece of chocolate each day and then Christmas Day you get the big prize! Have I been misunderstanding Advent Calendars as well????

ANYWAYS,

The 12 Days of Christmas, y'know the song? We all know it's mostly birds, clearly "our true love" was either the Penguin or a crazy person. But, if there was a 12 Days of Christmas related to your pup what would each day's gifts be?

Advent calendars are about counting down to Christmas, so they start on December 1st and you get a piece of chocolate or little gift every day until Christmas Day. It's linked to the Christian concept of Advent, which is the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. (Originally you fasted up to Christmas as a religious observance, and also as preparation for twelve days of wild partying...)

The twelve days of Christmas are the twelve days of feasting as part of celebrating Christmas. So they start on Christmas Day and end on Twelfth Night, like in the Shakespeare play (also the day when the Wise Men are supposed to have visited Jesus). Superstition has it that if you don't take the Christmas decorations down by Twelfth Night, you get a year of bad luck.
