Today's DE: checkmate

Hey all, so sorry I missed last Wednesday's DE. Work has been... let's not talk about work.

Today's DE!

Is, or would, your pup be good at chess?

I don't feel like Ahsoka would be good at chess. She has the intelligence and the cunning for it but I don't know that she has the patience.

Jess seems like she would be good, though it's vocal about it. I kind of what to imagine her and Logan having a long game going. Or maybe they play Go.

Wei Wuxian: Yes. He already plays a similar game (or it's predecessor, depending on how you want to shove this absolutely-not-historical-show into a historical framework), and would have been taught how to play it well. Beyond that, he's good at thinking several moves ahead (he just... sometimes decides to make moves based on things that have nothing to do with his personal health or reputation. Alas.

Cecil: ... eh, he can play, but he plays Night Vale rules, which have no bearing on how the rest of us play it, so mostly it'll be a lot of confusion and him asking where the space fighter pieces are.

Jon: No, I don't think he really cares for chess - he didn't learn it young, and he's not exactly gifted at long-term strategy.

Klaus: If you can a) get him willingly sober, and b) make him pay attention somehow that doesn't piss him off, then he's actually pretty dang good. I mean, he can't beat Five, none of them can beat Five, but... yeah. All of the Hargreeves kids are. But seeing as meeting the criteria is near impossible, no. No, he's crap when wasted and/or not paying attention.

Yamato's a really good chess player -- thinking several moves ahead and predicting what people will do is one of his Things, after all. I'm not sure he'd have much luck finding other members of the Chosen to play him, though.
