Help, please?

I'm back. After reading through the backlog? OMGOMG I love you all. <3333

And now, I need help. Bartleby is at present locked in his room. What I'd like to do is stay in that room, but be able to have people come in, probably singly, and have a conversation with me, if that makes any sense? And I can't quite see how to do it. Because Sirius ain't going to just leave the key lying around, so I need a rationale for him to let people in. And I really, really doubt that "Because Bartleby asked" is going to cut it.

So, any ideas? *looks at peanut gallery*

Sirius would probably allow visitors if Bartleby was behaving sanely again and not being rude or anything. Perhaps he realises he can't fly and begins to mope, and Sirius allows people in to see him because he's depressed?

Hm. It's a point. Well, presumably the ethereals could bypass the locks somehow? But then why wouldn't Bartleby just do that himself....

Sirius coulda stuck him to the bed somehow...:D

Because this way, he's supervised?

After all, if he's allowed to wander around out of the room, he'll be with crowds of people, including those who don't want to talk to him, not to mention able to get his hands on alcohol and any weapons he may have stashed around... The locked room, with one or two visitors at a time, is a controlled situation. An intermediate step between solitary confinement and freedom.

well the more magically inclined could use a spell, which cuts out sirius entirely and gives the added bonus of braking the boss guys rules. but i think the rest of us are kinda left out in the cold.

Anthy could bring him flowers! ♥ Walls won't stop her.

Er, double meaning? Whuh?

Oh. Hee. Right.

I think I got it. After, like, five minutes. But feel free to explain it anyway, because I was going to so I could check, and I can't figure out how to word it. Most perplexing. But then I am sleepy.

Liz is pretty guilt-wracked regarding the situation with Bartleby, and going home on Wednesday night. She'd want to try to talk to him if he was willing, in case she couldn't make it back.

[identity profile] ms-nitt.livejournal.com 2004-07-18 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I can just see Elizabeth kneeling on the floor talking to him through the keyhole... :D

[identity profile] muddypetticoats.livejournal.com 2004-07-18 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, good idea! She probably would, if she had no other option.

[identity profile] muddypetticoats.livejournal.com 2004-07-18 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Perdita-mun's suggestion regarding the keyhole isn't bad. She might also be able to persuade Sirius to let her go in and talk. She can pull the damsel-in-distress card and appeal to him.

Yeah. My parents are coming into town early Thursday afternoon, and staying through Sunday afternoon, so I probably won't be around much during that time. I'm just shipping Liz back to her time to advance the P&P plotline while I'm tied up. She'll be back on Sunday night, probably.
