What I think is weird is that you're using the word "cute" in the context of a story of a dead whore and a dozen rotting corpses.

But I suppose, for John, that is a romantic story...

*snrk* That's not what I meant, really. The story was damned creepy. The personal touches between John and Death were sweet, though. The hand on the arm, the kiss, etc. That was remarkably cute.

That story's the kind of thing John gets mixed up with all the time in his canon. I thought I should throw something like that into Milliways for all the people who keep asking "is he really a wizard, or is he just bullshitting?"

He does bullshit a lot, but he's also a true mage. A very powerful one, in fact, and a dangerous one.

Milliways is killing me. I had managed to resist so many fandoms before this. Now I'm desperate to get my hands on Sandman, and have Hellblazer on my to-read list. I'm already working my way through Good Omens.

John's an awesome character. That story went a long way towards giving a better picture of him.

Oh, and with regards to that, sirius (and I) honestly didn't know -- it's not that he thinks John is a bullshitter, he just hasn't seen him DO any magic. I tried to phrase that question as politely as possible, but there's no real way to do that *grins* hence Sirius' mellow backpedaling.

Peter, on the other hand, heard Death mention magic to John on a couple of brief occasions, so Peter was going on the assumption that 1) Death knows what she's talking about, and 2) John is a wizard, albeit not like those back home. (Just to let you lot know that I'm trying to keep my knowledge and Peter's separate.)

Peter can't quite figure out how John casts spells without a wand, but that's neither here nor there.
