(no subject)

Right.

I am taking deep breaths and being terribly sensible and not flailing in the least. But... you do realise that we are a bare couple of months from the first year anniversary of Milliways?

Hoooooooly crap.

I think it'd be nice to do some things to mark it, either IC or OOC.

Anyone have any suggestions? ;)

Free beer! OOC that is. We'll find a way!

*strangely terrified*

Explosions?

Lots of explosions?

A cook out with explosions?

Question: In game, Millicanon, whatever -- has the bar only been in existence a year? If so, a) Holy crap, only a year? A lot has happened in a year. Wow. and b) Then an IC cook out/lake party type thing seems perfectly appropriate.

OOC, I vote for the start of a new meme -- people's favorite firsts. Their first entrance, their first fight, their first smut, their first 'zilla, their first time eating Anthy's food. . . You get the picture. And I would suggest Millicons all over the world, but a Millicon for me would be, um, two people, as I can't afford to travel. So I'll sit in my corner of the world with a party hat and noisemaker and be jealous of you people who can travel.

Enough rambling from me. This is awesome.

I'm pretty sure it's been implied Milliways has a history longer than the past year. Dumbledore has mentioned coming here in his youth, when it was much different (and, it was implied but not made millicanon, King Arthur was head 'tender!); Mal mentioned having been to Milliways before, in a Firefly!plot OOM, but he hasn't been here in the past year, and then I don't *think* when Aziraphael and Crowley first came in back in the long-ago they were all, "Oh my, what is this place??" It was more, "let's go to that place we haven't been in a while and celebrate," wasn't it? Will look it up.

Mal actually has been here in the last year; we had a Mal very very briefly, towards the beginning. He came in about twice, and was never heard from again. It was on the basis of that that we made that particular bit of OOM plot.

For the rest of it, though, you're absolutely right. Several characters have implied that this place has been around for a long while, in some form or another.

Right.

Here is the very first thread in Milliways, barring calendar wonkiness.

The first thread with actual RP in it is
here and features the exchange:

I believe dinner is on you, this time?

Alright, but don't think I'm paying for more than one Pan-Galactic apiece. Wine's good enough back at the Ritz, and it'll do just fine here.

Cool! Thanks. I figured the bar was assumed to be around long before any of our pups first showed up, but checking can't hurt.

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2005-05-01 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Broom and Bar have set their wedding date for the anniversary.

OOC, I figure we all decide on one movie that's cracky enough that we all need to watch it. Then we head to the rental place/pull it out of our own collection and we all sit down and watch it. There'd be a period the length of the movie where all threads are on hold and we all just watch it, knowing that we are all watching the same thing at the same moment. . . maybe even have a gunshot sort of thing in crackchat so we'd start at the same moment, but that would require everyone's computer to be close enough to the TV for the remote's range to reach. . .

Just an idea.

A year... *is all misty-eyed*

I know we had thought about events like a musical, a "greatest hits" thread of some kind, a blooper reel kind of day, etc. for the six month anniversary, but since it was around X-mas, nothing happened.

It might be funny to have a backwards day - everyone comes in as an opposite of their character.

Or a cook out :P When in doubt, do a lake party!

[identity profile] no-prisoner.livejournal.com 2005-05-01 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I still have a character lined up for a musical episode. (No, not Sweet. He makes people burn up and works on too big of a scale; it wouldn't be opt-in.) I just don't have time for it right now. But maybe summer...

[personal profile] batyatoon 2005-05-02 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah um about that.

Alex and I were talking on that very subject today. And the opening line was:

"Hi, I'm Troy McClure! You may remember me from such other RPG retrospectives as Remembering 'The Simpsons Mafia' and Groening: The Animation. Join me as we look back on one side-splitting, blood-curdling, heart-warming year of Milliways..."

There were going to be outtakes. And viewer mail. And alternate endings to things like the Nyarlathotep plot.

Who's with me?

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2005-05-02 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
*raises hand*

There'll be room for the Broom/Bar wedding, right?

This can just be "A Very Special Milliways"

I think that's a wonderful idea! Characters that people have retired could play about too! That would be great for everyone!

I used to do Troy McClure movies as friend's presents. Full with voice impression in everything. Hell yes, I am in.
