I've decided I need to do more with The Evil Stepmother.

So, canonically, she could spy on people through mirrors. Her room is set up with mirrors--it showed up that way when she first went into it. Now, I can't just have her spying all willy-nilly--too god-moddy--and she will mostly be spying on people involved with Virginia. So I figured, the best way to work this, really, is I'll just ping persons as they're RPing and ask if she can spy on their thread. If it's okay with the players, then I'll tag in with a simple "Over in the corner, a mirror glimmered for a moment," or "it seemed for a second that there was a face reflected on his mug, but it was probably just a trick of the light," or somesuch, to mark that she spied.

Then she'll have knowledge of whatever is said in that thread unless some sort of magic was put up to block her or they moved to where no reflective surfaces were around. If she meets the people she spied on in the future, she'll have ammo to use for careless and entertaining mindbuggery.

Now, does anyone want to be mind-fucked by her explicitly? Because I'll be sure to ping you next time I plan to have her spy, and have her pick up angsty nitty gritty details so she can mess with their minds.

I'm slow, should have put this up yesterday, but with yesterday's edition of the Say True, there was a subscription offer. If your pup wants to subscribe, have them just add ways_say_true to their watched list (not join it) and they have subscription!

Maybe next there will be delivery. We could have a paper boy!

Greetings, all.

After 2:30 Eastern time today, I will out of the Bar for a whooping nine days! The first two and last two days of that stretch will be Jewish holidays, and in between we will be at the Ohio Valley Filk Festival (OVFF) in Columbus, OH, and pretty much without prolonged Net access.

In my absence, Barry will be taking it easy, and Lando will be back with the Alliance Fleet. If there are any major plot developments brewing that would require the eventual presence of either, feel free to e-mail links to sdelmonte AT aol.com, for I will be woefully behind on the game when I do return.

Come and join me and the other internet crazies in this month's writing challenge, which you can find right here. It's a theme guaranteed to tickle at least some of you Milliways folks this month.

For those who don't know, this is a (monthly, yeah) short-fic writing challenge: 400 words or less, any fandom, any rating. It's open to everyone here, to your friends, to your families. Hey, if your pets can write... no, really. It's fun, and it's a challenge because of the length. Each month's assignment has a different theme and this month's is serenity (thought that might attract your attention). You don't have to write the character(s) you play! It's all fair game. The rest of the rules are in my super-secret real-life LiveJournal, linked above.

Hmm, guess it's not so secret any more. Bad planning, huh.

Anyhow, come and play. We have a week to do it.

We're GETTING THERE. :D

Your industrious mods are, at present, going through the old cast list with a wee fine toothcomb, sorting the undeletable characters from the deletable, and adding the former to the new cast list.

MEANWHILE, your job is not done yet. You are all to go, yet again, to the new cast list, and take a loooong, hard look at all your characters. Then, reply here, in the comments of this post, with any of those characters you'd like to give up for adoption. Please include the character's name (& fandom), journal, what you would like to happen to them if they remain unadopted (ie, either retired or deleted), and a way to get in contact with you for adoption. So, each character should look like this:

Name: Crowley (Good Omens)
Journal: aj_crawley
If Unadopted: Retire
Contact: Sophie - copinggoggles[at]livejournal[dot]com, scuba soph (AIM), llemun (Y!M)

Please make a SEPARATE COMMENT FOR EACH CHARACTER.

EDIT: In addition, please think CAREFULLY about what you would like to happen to your character if they remain unadopted. If you have only brought them in a few times, if they have not really taken part in anything of consequence, if they have not really had any meaningful interactions - in short, if it wouldn't really matter if someone apped a new version, PLEASE CHOOSE 'DELETE'. Because, if you choose to retire, then that basically means that that character is off-limits to anyone else for good. And, unless you have a good reason, that's Just Plain Selfish.

I'll be re-posting a link to this post every day until Friday evening, and then I will open up the post for adoptions. So, until I post on Friday to cut the metaphorical ribbon, please do NOT reply to any of the comments in this post.

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. MISTAKES WILL BE SUMMARILY DELETED.

If you see a character you would like to adopt, get in contact with the mun via whatever contact info they have left in the comment. Once you have sorted out the transfer (password, backstory, existing Millicanon, etc), then, and ONLY THEN, comment in reply to the mun, with the word 'TAKEN' in the subject line.

Because some muns did not pay attention during the drive to add characters to the new cast list, they missed the bit in the repeated posts about also adding characters they planned to adopt. Therefore, depending on their level of past activity, some of the characters below may have been purged by the mods. Therefore, if you adopt one, please check:

a) whether they are on the new cast list, and

b) whether the journal is still a member and still has posting access to milliways_bar.

If not, please add and/or re-join.

Lastly, when you adopt a character, send an email to milliways.mods[at]gmail[dot]com, letting us know which character, who the old mun was, and who has them now.

The apostrophe was what was ballsing up your cast list apps. Should be fixed now, so head on over here and add your pups again.

That goes for anyone whose fandom-with-an-apostrophe-in-it was giving them grief.

NOTE: If you're adding a character with an apostrophe in their name (eg: Bob O'Brian), don't use the ' key. Use the ` key; upper left corner of the keyboard, under the ESC key.

Quick Serenityplot note/warning/whatever

Hey all,

For those following Serenityplot, Wash is going to be entering the bar this Wednesday (October 19th) at around 9 or 9:30 PM ET. The standard "here there be spoilers" disclaimer will apply to his thread -- however, I'm also going to ask that you please not tag in unless your pup's already met Wash at some point. This won't be the best night for him to meet new people, say sorry.

I'll probably be setting up a plotchat when the time comes to keep things organized, too, so if you want in, ping me at ironic segue on Wednesday. See you then!
