For those of you that might have been living under a rock for the better part of the last 13 years, September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day.¹

What, exactly, does this mean? Well, for the next 24 hours or so you can be rest assured that your respective flists will be inundated with Salty Language and fierce nautical innuendo.²

I know what you're thinking, Who cares about my real life friends and acquaintances! What does this mean for my characters? What's going to happen In Bar! GREAT GALLOPING GALLONS OF GRAVY, BING! TELL ME! FOR LO' MINE IS AN ANTICIPATION THAT CAN'T BE QUENCHED! I'VE PAID FOR THE WHOLE SEAT, BUT LOOK! I'M ONLY USE'ETHING THE END!

And again, now is not the time for worry. Believe me when I tell you that nothing is going to happen to your characters in-game. That is, of course, unless you want something to happen. Yes, there is a tried and true tradition of the latent magic of Milliways mucking about with the persons that visit her humble confines. Some gain jaunty hats, while others lose the ability to see out of one eye. It's just a thing. But it's a thing that doesn't have to be a thing if people don't want a thing to...you know...thing. If that makes any sense.

Go! Have fun! Do what'chu like, with the knowledge that all things Piratey are highly encouraged.

But...do keep this in mind. There will be a direct correlation between the Piratey'ness of your character and the likelihood of any order they're likely to place coming back tasting a bit saltier than normal. This is clearly in keeping with the Piratey theme, and has nothing to do with the fact that Bar is missing the hell out of a certain Cap'n wif-a-bird's-name.

Also, chances are good there will be no Happy Hour.³ I won't be around due to a previous engagement, so that means that Mike is boycotting the whole affair on account of the fact that there's no International Talk Like A Ninja Day. If someone else on Staff would like to take over for the evening, they should feel free to do so. If not there is a default Special on Grog, Key Lime Pie, and of course....Rum.⁴

in honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, we bring you...

... pirates, of course!

However, there's a bit of a catch. :) Due to ongoing plot the weird and wacky twisting of time that happens around Milliways on a regular basis, the Pirates of the Caribbean characters (and possibly certain other associated folk) who appear in the bar today are arriving from various points prior to the events of At World's End... and prior to their own personal Milliways history.

This means, of course, that they're not likely to recognize anyone. (Sorry, Bar.) As to what else it means-- why, now that remains to be seen, doesn't it?

And in the meantime, happy Talk Like a Pirate day. :) As Jack would say, drinks all 'round!

Am sorry, people I am slowtiming with, but unless there are massive changes in my homework load I will not be on until Friday night.

<3 to you all. (And by 'on' I mean IM, too--I have two tests, a paper, and 87 homework questions. Ouch.)

Also, if you have a slowtime with Finn, Zach, Filif, or Cora that I haven't responded to in weeks and weeks it is because I forgot about it. I have no clue who I have slowtimes with right now besides Mary Lennox, Elda, Laini, and Neville. Um. Am sorry! If you want to continue/fade, tag here?

I'm doing this here and not in an OOC note in the post, because I want to, and because when I'm having this much fun, I feel no shame in begging you all to have some fun with me.

As you must know by now, today is Talk Like a Pirate Day.

It is also, I'm afraid to say, Wednesday. And like every Wednesday, I will be disappearing at 5pm GMT to go and play games with Real Life People™. So my fun with LilWill (or Tiny Turner, whichever you'd like to call him) is rapidly running out. But! This post remains open. It will remain open until I have no more tags to give to it, and no more threads in it. That's today, tonight, in five weeks, whenever. All threads millitimed to today, but all comers welcome at any time.

So please, don't be put off by its timestamp or my absence. I will honour all slowtimes no matter when they're posted.

OK, now I'll go back to hiding in my corner of the internets.
