Lay 'em out, folks! What've you been loving this week?

Meanwhile, I'll be groovin' to the tune of baby's brand new username (my old one, wordsthatfail, is no longer for this world), and hauling my dog into a monsoon despite her protests. Sugar won't thank me, but her bladder certainly will. Which gets me brownie points.

Um, somehow.

ANYWAY, she says in all-caps, pulling a Chuck Klosterman, the point is: Your awesome, show it to us.

So... sometime around missing this for the third year in a row, I decided I wasn't allowed to make one of these posts until I reached my fifth year in the game. Or, in other words:

WHAT THE HELL HOW DID THAT HAPPEN.

(Did I come awfully close to forgetting again? MAYBE.)

So five years ago today, I brought in Behrooz for the first time. I'd also mention that at that time, I was weeks away from graduating from high school – now I'm a first year law student cramming for her Property final. Kind of scary, I know.

In any case, thank you guys for a wonderful five years. I've had a great time reading, writing, and getting to know you. It's had the kind of influence that means I think I can count on my hand the number of days over the past few years that I haven't clicked over to the Bar at least once, often just to catch up on others' threads or take a break by reading what's going on here. It's been a fantastic experience and resource for writing and consuming of media (oh the number of people I've turned into geeks because of this place), and I'm very happy to have been a part of it.

So, yeah. Thanks guys! :D

Weekend Entertainment, evening edition

For those of us who are never awake when DE goes up!

Today's question is probably most applicable for those of you with characters from large/sprawling/confusing/esoteric-knowledge-filled sources. And it is: how do you keep track of that shit? If one of your characters is from a nine-season long television show, or about five different series of comics, or a manga-and-anime-and-musical combo platter, or ... something ... how do you remember everything? Do you takes notes? Use searchable transcripts? Extensive databases of information you've spent years compiling? Same question for those of you whose characters are experts in subjects you know nothing of! And even those of you who play characters exclusively from, say, short stories probably have to keep track of millicanon somehow.

Talk to me! I'm bored. It's too humid to move over here. At least I don't have to boil water.
