Daily Entertainment.

What's your favorite little thing about the holiday season (if you have one)?

Right now, it's Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark chocolates. OMG so tasty. Basically any combination of peppermint and chocolate.

Tell me yours! Also have meeting this morning, so will not be terribly active until the afternoon.

Also, mods? Would it be possible to get a 'daily entertainment' tag inna backroom? :D?

ETA: Kate! How dare you? :D!!!!

ETA again: Go stalk Kate in hers below as well - apparently people get bored in the UK too. *shock*

even better in my book, when you steam eggnog, it literally sounds like a jet engine

uuugh, I hate steaming stuff that makes LOUD NOISES. Even worse when I'm not steaming it but hear it anyway.

Man, i can't tell you how freaked out I was the first time I steamed apple cider. I literally thought I had broken the espresso machine.

I don't know why I like it - I guess it's a thing like, yeah, I'M making all this noise! I've got a steam wand and I'm not afraid to use it!

Hee!

But today someone was steaming milk and didn't aerate it, and it was making a lot of noise, and as a result I wanted to slap him. I'm...not a huge fan of screeching, loud noises, no.

Apparently you can aerate apple cider to make it quiet! (Though you cannot aerate it enough to make apple cider cappuccinos.)

Speaking of things whot require espresso machines, when you are ordering your drinks breve (with half and half): seriously, at that point I wouldn't EVEN make airs of trying to make the drink lowfat by removing the foam and ordering sugar free syrup. Because you are putting 1/2 heavy whipping cream and 1/2 whole milk into your drink, seriously, you can only do worse by just ordering the heavy whipping cream.

Ugh! I hate when you go to someplace fast-foody that are trying to make themselves more hipster by serving espresso and they are NOT training their people correctly on steaming techniques and proper espresso brewing!! I'm like, dammit people, I had 2 full weeks of coffee training with Caribou, all about the history of coffee and roasting processes and tasting sessions, etc. I'M INVESTED, DAMMIT! RESPECT!!!
</ rant>

Man, i love me some steamed cider. It's my current favorite drink, since coffee tends to make my stomach hate me now. Sigh. The price of getting old.

....
Someone really did that???? Breve is FULL of fat! Grrr. That's like people who order a huge bacon cheeseburger, fries and apple pie, then get a diet Coke. Sorry, that doesn't cancel out the fat.

Well, see, he aerated the milk after I gave it the evil eye. I think he just wanted to get the milk steaming, multitask, and then aerate it before the automatic steam wand stopped (because we work at a rather well-known and habitually busy coffee franchise). Still, it's just annoying to hear all that racket. I usually aerate the milk first thing then let it sit while I do other things.

And, yes! I had a customer today order two breve drinks, both without foam, one with sugar free vanilla, and I'm thinking, "Lady, you might as well just order it with foam and regular vanilla syrup because you aren't compensating for much with fucking HALF AND HALF in your drinks." I got people like that at my old job in the movie theater, where they'd order a large popcorn, candy, and a large diet Pepsi. Yes, that Large Cup of Nothing is really going to compensate for the popcorn and the candy.

Oh, I am all for going for the tasty, but I think, if you're putting half and half in your drink, you have got to go all the way: foam, regular syrup, even whip cream if you're feeling saucy (though I think you might as well put in chocolate if you're feeling saucy /pun). I fail to see the tasty appeal of sugar free syrup in a breve drink.

*giggles* Yeah, I guess you like what you like. But it struck me as odd, if only because taking of the foam and using sugar free syrup are generally the tactics of people who want to keep off the weight. But they usually do that by using nonfat milk, too. (They could do one better and order tea or coffee and avoid the flavored lattes/mochas all together.)

Tea is tasty!

Although I must admit, I am overly fond of Starbucks' super extra fattening flavored lattes and mochas. But! Once I stop working there, I think I might just revert to more coffee and tea and less Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
