A sort of meme?
So one day I got emo and randomly decided, as a way to distract myself, to type up my favorite passages from Ian Fleming's Bond novels. In the course of this deed I learned I could apparently type up three pages of text in ten minutes, which was kind of scary. Anyway, the post is here, sans all my favorite passages, because not all of my books are earmarked, and not all of the books that are earmarks have earmarks on all my favorite passages.
The meme part comes in my curiosity to see other people's favorite passages from their pup's canon. What bits of canon do you like best? If you have a book canon and are feeling saucy, type it up! If it's a movie canon and you can find a clip, link to it! If it's a comic book and you have a panel, let's see it! Or you can just reply and talk about it if you don't feel like getting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or doing things what are totally illegal.

So this right here (http://i-love-kettch.livejournal.com/4151.html#cutid2) (in between the hr tags) is like, guys, that is Wes in a nutshell. Life is way too short to take it seriously. The rest of the stuff in that post is also from Solo Command; the first bit is srs bsns (totes the only time SRS WES IS SRS in the entirety of Star Wars canon), and the third is why I will always and forever owe Aaron Allston my soul.
Then there's this bit of Starfighters of Adumar (http://i-love-kettch.livejournal.com/4456.html) (which, guys, best and gayest book ever, no joke). Hurting a teenage girl and offending Wedge Antilles? OH NO YOU DI'N'T.
My favourite bits of Lost are all the bits where Desmond calls Locke "Box Man".

Well, both of them. And Iron First. And Wraith Squadron. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

Dean O'Dell's best moment was when he and Keith Mars bonded. Two guys who shared a love of cigars and scotch, who had been through a lot of crap, and who were trying to cope with a world they didn't quite understand anymore. If you want a reason why I came to like Cyrus, it was here.
Gibbs..well, anytime he gets to tell a story, that's a good moment. But the best is when he is asked by Barbossa to tell of the green flash, and glares at Pintell for stepping on his lines.
And Kirk...it's hard to choose just one when you are a devoted ST:TOS fan. From the series, I could talk about Kirk returning to the bridge after being cured of premature aging, dashing as ever, and getting the ship out of danger with a simple false message to Starfleet. Or I could talk about his harshest choice, to let Edith Keeler die. From the films, nothing stands out more than his first face-off with Khan in the second film, where he again saves the day through cunning (as well as firepower) but then berates himself for letting Khan trap him. I have always loved how, when Sulu declares, "we did it!" Kirk snaps back "we did nothing!" For all Kirk's ego and bluster, he is never more aware at that moment of his shortcomings. And yet he is never better as a commander in that scene or the ones that follow.

This (http://untraitor.livejournal.com/1000.html) is a "hearth-tale" from Therem's homeland. It's stuck between chapters in the book, and explains the namesakes of my Therem, his brother Arek, and their son Sorve.

But this? Is TOTALLY my favorite bit with Carl in. Boy's got the best Bluff check ever.
ETA: Whistler driving also wins at pretty much everything in the entire universe. But sadly, that bit of the movie is not on Youtube. (I think most of what is on Youtube is there because it involves River Phoenix.)

SARAH canon...>D She gets downloaded into a car in season 2. "I'm so excited! Do you want to go to the beach? We never go on road trips together, Sheriff..."
Sallie has no canon. Sallie needs no canon. :D?
Mal...I can't choose. Good god. Um...I like it when he gets stabbed. I think I have issues.

From Gormenghast, the final scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxkDUIRl74g) between Steerpike and Fuchsia always gets me.
Melou has no canon, sadly.
Sikozu's awesome when she's being bitchy to John (And everyone else) and when she uses her radiation. I can't find clips. :/

"Balls of British steel!" is one of my favorite Dog Soldiers quotes.
There is a reason that I use "Wake up" as often as possible with Dream.
I love Suzi's world but, uh. Hate the writing in her book. So no quotes there.

You asked for it: She-Hulk
Well, I'll try.
First of all: Shulkie argues against the Mutant Registration Act in front of the Supreme Court of the United States and kicks the s**t out of Titania. AT THE SAME TIME. (http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/3319815.html?nc=21) Cower, mortals! She-Hulk brains, beauty, brilliance, and brawn!
In paricular this page warms my heart. (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Scans%20Daily/She-Hulk/?action=view¤t=329834563_3a0d7fc8d3_b.jpg)
Next: one of the most famous comics ever published in the history of the medium, meaning, of course, She-Hulk #50. Yes, the infamous #50, where She-Hulk found out her writer John Byrne was supposedly dead, and interviewed a dozen or so other writers and artists to take his place. (http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/2085509.html?nc=71) Including Wendy Pini (yes, THAT Wendy Pini, of Elfquest fame), Walt Simonson, and Frank Miller.
If you don't love She-Hulk after reading the below page written by Miller, you may in fact have no soul:
This? One of the greatest She-Hulk covers of all time. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Scans%20Daily/She-Hulk/00014kb1.jpg)
But then, so is this. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Scans%20Daily/She-Hulk/shulkiexmendeal.png)
And so is this: the infamous Vanity Fair/Demi Moore parody cover. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Scans%20Daily/She-Hulk/059_34.png)
Finally, it's sometimes instructive to look at a character through the eyes of their peers. Namely, one J. Jonah Jameson:
Edit for Great Justice: Jesus H., how could I forget She-Hulk and the Living Tribunal? (http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/1716/shehulk70082nx7.jpg)
Re: You asked for it: She-Hulk
Everything in this comment is made 100% of awesome.
Here's a bit more!

My favorite Homestar Runner moment, which also happens to be a song, is One Two One Two. Belt it out, Strong Bad.
My favorite Lunar moment is Damon's Spire, when everyone is asked to sculpt clay into an image of what they treasure. Naturally, only Alex's sculpture is impressive since he's the hero trying to save his girlfriend, but everyone else has great treasures. XD And a little earlier in the Spire, they encounter a man that needs to be healed which leads to a conversation about Ex-Lax cookies.
You asked for it: Hawkgirl.
Kendra meets Roy Harper: one of the greatest Hawkgirl pages from Brad Meltzer's run on the Justice League of America book. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/kendraroy-1.jpg) The fact that she doesn't say anything at all on this page cracks me up every single time that I read it.
Next up: One of Alex Ross's gorgeous paintings of Hawkgirl and Hawkman. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/ross_hawks-1.jpg) I love this painting so much that it hurts. Ross is a Golden God.
This Hawkman cover tells you so much about Kendra: Even with her hands and wrists sliced to ribbons and covered with bandages, she's *still* coming to kick your ass. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/Hawkgirl.jpg)
Kendra had a rather spectacular cameo in a recent issue of Gail Simone's Birds of Prey. Four pages of imminent and then actual epic pwnage:
What is that-...oh, S**T! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/104-9.png)
Kendra shreds. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/104-10.png)
Which leads to Kendra about to mete out an asskicking to Vandal Savage's daughter:
I don't know who you are, lady... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/105-3.png)
...but you've just awoken the Hawk. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/105-4.png)
From the OTP front: My OTP has mid-air hot smexing sessions. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v372/orophinsgloss/Hawkgirl/hawkmanandhawkgirl.jpg) Does yours? Beautiful painted prettiness.
I apologize for the poor quality of the below pic, but I don't have the particular issue at hand at work to scan in a higher quality version, so had to rely on Google to find the following panel: Barbarian Kendra, drawn by the incomparable Rags Morales!
I love this picture, because it captures her essence to a T. (http://image.comicvine.com/uploads/item/7000/6903/4585-hawkgirl_400.jpg)
As does this one, which is for those of you curious to see what's under the mask. (http://image.comicvine.com/uploads/item/7000/6903/129861-hawkgirl_400.jpg)
Finally, Kendra's softer side - here's a panel that I adore, showing Kendra with little Lian Harper, Roy Harper's (Red Arrow's) daughter:
Re: You asked for it: Hawkgirl.
Yet moar pwnage: Oliver Queen and Batman love Kendra.
Re: Yet moar pwnage: Oliver Queen and Batman love Kendra.
Re: Yet moar pwnage: Oliver Queen and Batman love Kendra.
Here we go: gaslight Justice League.
PS - just for you: Kendra and Clark.

Consider this a placeholder for (more) Star Wars: X-Wing, The Red Star, and possibly M*A*S*H, Run, Fatboy, Run, and National Treasure (depending on what I can dig up on YouTube), for when I get home to my comics and a computer where my internet use is not severely curtailed.

There are too many great lines in this canon, so being pup-specific here, probably the part that sums up his status as schadenfreude personified takes place when Linguini first shows up at Gusteau's and has an exchange with the head chef, Skinner (not that Skinner, but pretty evil nonetheless) and his other Random Employees, part of which goes something like this:
Skinner: "Yes. Linguini. So nice of you to visit. How is--?"
Linguini: "My mother."
Skinner: "Yes. Renata. How is she?"
Linguini: "She's good. Well, not g-- she's been better... I mean, uh..."
Horst: "She died."
Skinner: (apathetically) "Oh, I'm sorry."
Linguini: "Oh, don't be. She believed in heaven, so she's... covered... you know... afterlife-wise."
I try not to be like those freaky stage moms who beat people over the head with how great they think their kids are, but if you don't think that's at least a little bit 'awww'... well, then I just don't know what to say to you.

Doc: *reaches out slowly to touch her cheek*
Yen: *shies away* I am unclean, that is not worthy for a young man.
Doc: Yen, I used to ride with the Dirty Underwear Gang out of Liberty, Missouri. Then John Tunstall taught me that the past is like an old yellow Peck novel, when you're finished with it, you throw it out and you start a new one.
(Bolding my own, as that's become my life motto of late.)
And as for the Youtube, well:
I made this one, awhile back, and have always meant to go through and do the rest. Just clips of scenes of YG1 that Doc is in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BknKNC0K-tM
Minus the clips with him and Yen, because I did those separately, still need to do the third part in the finale but the first two are here and here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev5BQ4m8pRQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFMKduG4cR8
As for, 'what's next in canon', the boys are going to walk out the door into this scene, which is one of my alltime favorites just because of how smirky and devious Doc is the whole scene:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4Br5-CCi_w
And, I have to put in the music video to the song that was written just for the movie, hehe: Jon Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory because it does have clips from the movie in it.

Atton, the Handmaiden, the Exile and a Silly Guy talk about the Ebon Hawk. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V6142Ed3Ns) Atton totally never suggests violence. Nope. Not at all.
And the cast of KOTOR are agreed on at least one thing. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r63CsrHZGR8&feature=related)

"She won't wake," said a soft voice.
Harry jumped and spun around on his knees.
A tall, black-haired boy was leaning against the nearest pillar,
watching. He was strangely blurred around the edges, as though
Harry were looking at him through a misted window. But there was
no mistaking him
"Tom - Tom Riddle?"
Riddle nodded, not taking his eyes off Harry's face.
"What d'you mean, she won't wake?" Harry said desperately. "She's
not - she's not -?"
"She's still alive," said Riddle. "But only just."
That passage always gives me chills. In the movie, Tom emerges from the shadows and it's such a shivery evil moment.
