Daily Entertainment - Guest Host Edition

Greetings, all. Alex here, filling in for Steph MuJi.

First off, as I have your attention, I want to thank everyone who took my Gaslight idea and ran with it in as many directions as possible.

From [livejournal.com profile] lil_green_apple: How do your pups get along in your head?

In my case, they don't really have much to do with each other. Knox sees Kirk, and moves along, having never been a Trekkie. Kirk is respectful of reporters but keeps his distance. Gibbs might get along with Kirk but there is too much time between their eras. I think Knox and Gibbs might make decent drinking buddies.

What goes on in YOUR heads?

[identity profile] miss-yt.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I have two pups who are canonmates (Tali and Commander Shepard) and they generally get on very well. Mouse and YT don't talk to each other in my head so much, but they have been in a few "two pups, one mun" threads together and they got along. My other pups don't interact with each other.

Byers and Krycek just sort of avoid each other, but there is the passing glare once in a while.

EVERYONE avoids Adams. He tries to start stuff, but everyone else knows better. ;)

I think they largely don't care, though Daniel Craig!Bond sure as hell don't like Simon Skinner. Timothy Dalton!Bond is indifferent towards Skinner. Paul is just in his little corner being Paul and therefore non-communicative. Silly Paul.

Alanna and Elizabeth can't stand each other, ever since their (one and only) confrontation after Jack told Alanna how he died. Although, now that he's alive again, Alanna is less fiery about it. Elizabeth is just petulant.

The others... well, I'm pretty sure no one in their right mind would ever get along with Doctor Evil. :D

[identity profile] kali921.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She-Hulk would get along with Doctor Evil! She loves campy villains with high grade exposition! :-D

Ohhh, interesting question. Huh.

I think that She-Hulk would like and/or tolerate with kindness Hawkgirl and her occasional abrasive propensities. She-Hulk already knows and likes Lockjaw, so that isn't an issue, and I'm sure Lockjaw would be thrilled if someone as strong as She-Hulk offered to play a game of teleportation tag with him.

Lockjaw in general is a people person, but he's also hardly your typical slavishly devoted dog entity. He goes where he wants when he wants, according to his sense of duty and/or total whim.

Hawkgirl, on the other hand, initially eyes everyone with suspicion, and then would finally cave and probably sit down to share war stories with Shulkie and would throw her flail for Lockjaw to fetch.

Nita and Carmela, as canonmates, of course, get along well -- if Nita has a best female friend, Carmela might top the list. Outside Milliways, anyway. They spend a lot of time rolling their eyes at each other. Epimetheus approves of Nita and thinks Carmela's a kick.

Charles gets along with everyone; Nita quietly fangirls him, much to his bemusement. He and Valerie especially like each other.

Nirupam mostly hangs out in a corner by himself, observing. Oddly enough, Kim hangs out in the same corner trying not to be noticed. They give each other a lot of odd looks.

Tom is kind of lonely in among all the teenagers. He and Epimetheus drink together sometimes, and he's on nodding terms with Valerie.

Mostly, it's pretty mellow. Now, if you throw in the villain I'm planning on apping this summer, then things start to get interesting . . .

MWAHAHAHAHA.

Ahem.

[identity profile] prix-etoile.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahahhahaha.

Okay, so John has sort of adopted Allana in my head. He falls easily for kids and she fell asleep on him at SJS's wedding, so they bonded quickly.

Winter, because she still lives in my head even if I don't play her, and Inyri are wary of each other. Inyri's useful to NRI for her knowledge of Black Sun, but Inyri's also volitile about it and well...Winter's been on the receiving end of some of her explosions.

Azula gets along with NO ONE in my mind.

Kira and Inyri know of each other and in my mind, they get along more often than not. They're both quiet and apathetic and sometimes really unhappy and they just like to mope together.

In my head still there lives a Jack Shepherd...and he and John are the saddest best friends ever. They get along so well but most of the time they're just like "...*sigh*"

[identity profile] sir-gareth.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
After a frosty first few threads (when Debi was helping me play Goldy, thus avoiding rpsterbation scenarios) Indy and Goldy do not get along in RP. Since Steph moved in with Mel, they have started to come into contact more often, and have an uneasy truce in place. They diss each other remorselessly when they are apart though.

I love them both dearly, but since they are almost polar opposites, they don't get along in my head either. I find it very difficult to RP them both simultaneously, and yet one voice never lets me play the other to its exclusion for very long. My brain is in constant turmoil because of this, and it should also explain why I've never taken on any other primary pups in three years of RP. And why I've never dabbled in any other games.

What? Don't mock. I'm a bear of very little brain!

Veronica and Eros live in two completely separate parts of my brain - they've never met IC or OOC, and likely never will as this would cause the universe (or at least my particular part of it) to implode.

Much like Gar I can't play them both at once, which actually means I'm prone to dropping slowtimed threads with one if I've started a thread with the other (sorry). On top of this I can really only play each of them when I'm in a ... certain mood, I guess? Like "Today is an Eros day" versus a "Veronica day". I've tried other characters here and there, but rarely is one able to hang around for very long. It's like survival of the fittest in here, you've gotta carve out your mental niche quick or I won't get the voice down and you'll be gone, baby, gone.

Mine don't talk to each other, other than Bumblebee and Ironhide, and of course Harry and Annie. I've made a point of keeping them separate. For the most part they don't interact either in Milliways or in my head. I find it easier that way.

Green!Jack would find Archy both fascinating and quietly amusing, because Jack's a big fan of writers and bugs, and find 1941!Jack much like other mortals--but out of his realm, being dead and all.

Archy would take Green!Jack with a healthy dose of skepticism, and find 1941!Jack to be just another Big Person.

1941!Jack would know Archy from the papers and possibly fanboy him a bit, and the inna-head reaction right now to the notion of him meeting Green!Jack is mostly "Nature god. Mm-kay."

My two Jacks sounds like a sitcom.

I've spoken to a few muns about this but the short answer is Stitch walks all over Cerb. I visualize Cerb quietly bringing a friend over to his small apartment, unlocking the door, and being hit with a wave of blaring music. The TV's on, The furniture's been knocked over, there's food on the walls and a small alien in shades swinging from the ceiling fan.

"...And this would be my roomate. I'm sorry about this."

Demeter is the quiet headvoice who makes sure the two guys don't get into too much trouble.

The Pirate King sometimes gets Will drunk but otherwise they don't interact too much, over all pretty good roommates to take Toaster's lovely metaphor.

Raz would love to kill everyone in my head, Rem doesn't care about them at all. Hex doesn't care, but she'd like to pummel Parker. He's being a dork all the time. The Ghost is all but disappeared, but when she's around she tends to beat Parker up. Most of them hate the Ghost. Courage is scared of all of them but Tegid and Parker. And Tegid is just too busy to worry about the other head voices. And some of my other head voices are very quiet.

Is it bad when one of your head voices comments to you about happenings in Real Life?

My pups don't talk to each other at all. I deliberately chose a lot of very different pups so they'd be unlikely to overlap in my headspace.

Unfortunately, this has the side effect of making it difficult for me to play multiple pups simultaneously.

I've actually written fic about my two Sorkinpups meeting. It gives me a thrill of unholy joy; they, on the other hand, would probably end up screaming at each other while lost together in a hallway somewhere.

The headvoices are really very compartmentalized; they don't comment on each other, and I have a very hard time playing more than one at a time; but I'm amused by how I tend to gravitate toward smooth-talking too-smart angst-ridden heart-of-gold cynical assholes, murderous royalty and the utterly clueless.

I do fall into their speech patterns unprompted on occasion -- Batya can testify to this personally. :) Also, Sorkinbanter is catchy and addictive: I've mainlined The West Wing with a friend from time to time and we find ourselves doing the patter for weeks afterward.

Ummm... Hmm!

Milli-canonically, all mine except Nico have met (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/11690536.html). Offscreen, as it were, I'm sure they've run into each other now and again - Havelock has seen Jack about, for instance, when he was working at the brothel at the same time as Puck. He has no particular opinion about him further than being aware that that shiny weaponry may be flashy, but it's also dangerous. Jack thinks Havelock's hot, in a sinister, mun's-brain-imploding kind of way - but has a strange sensation that flirting would be a bad idea on many levels.

It's never really happened, but in my head, Shelley defends Ducky from being terrorised by Harth. Harth isn't quite sure how Shelley is even capable of doing that, but finds her a little worrying. (He never had a strict school marm in his humanhood, but if he had, he would have his answer.)

Nico thinks Harth's kind of (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/17721892.html?thread=739965732#t739965732) cool, for a kid. She would never admit this in a million years, and would explode with rage if she found out she'd been taken in by a vampire again.

Raven torments Nynaeve and Dean incessantly. X kind of stares at everybody, studying them carefully, which is also annoying to Nynaeve and less to Dean, because while X is totally jailbait, she's not bad eyecandy if he pretends she can't secretly kill him whenever she damn well pleases. Aslan usually naps (thank God), Door's busy doing her own thing, Jordan likes to listen to Raven's stories, which means she's pretty quiet, and Asyr's gone. *wry*

Galadan tends to frolic *cough* through increasingly random AUs, causing havoc where he can, and Dean laments the lack of single hot chicks that, you know, he can hook up with. He also tends to stare at Raven a lot, wondering when the joke's gonna be on him. He's not gotten involved in a prank war with the trickster yet, but it's comin' down the line. I am not looking forward to it.

Destiny isn't there except when he is, and he tends to be smirking. Go figure.

[identity profile] dictator-duck.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
My characters are all very loud and commenting on the outside world, but in reaction to each other they are mostly quiet. The ones I can think of (and this is mostly in reaction to reading threads, etc.) is that Cora fusses incessantly over all of my characters, especially the younger ones, one of my secret characters insults everyone wittily (er, in that character's opinion), Zach comments on the scientific probability of what is occuring and goes :| at Filif, and Finn is sort of intimidated by them all (especially Cora).

Ayep.

It helps, in situations like this, to have two pups from the same canon. Lorne and Teyla are...friendly with one another. They're not exactly friends, but they probably could be.

Lorne, for his part, doesn't feel comfortable actually being friends with Teyla, mostly because he has a tendency to set up boundaries of propriety around relationships, and he's put Teyla off-limits since she's on Sheppard's team.

Teyla, respects those boundaries, and she's perfectly content to leave their relationship as it is.

[identity profile] spiffynamehere.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I only have two pups in Milliways, so I'm going to spontaneously declares this a "ALL YOUR PUPS EVER BWAHAHAHAHAHA" question. I can do that, cause I made it up!

Okay, so. Basically, I've got Luke Smith (Milliways), Pomona (Milliways), the Eleventh Doctor (not!Milliways), River Tam (not Milliways), and Osiris/Sarah Gardner (not Milliways).

Osiris gets along with NO ONE. My headvoices usually keep her locked up in her sarcophagus, because when she gets out there is RETRIBUTION.

Luke gets along with almost everyone: Eleven is his second mum, and River's just plain odd. But he's nice to her. Politeness is a Good Thing.

Pomona is terrified of all but River, who she thinks is actually a river. A weird river, but a nice one nonetheless.

Eleven gets along with pretty much everyone except Osiris. But especially Luke. Luke is her protege, and she loves him to bits.

And River just sort of wanders around creeping everyone out.

...There are other pups, too, but. These were the ones who came to mind as more or less connected. :D

[personal profile] pastrydeity 2008-03-25 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine are... well, they tend to rub off on each other; it's probably why Antony is nicer than he should be and my supervillain has yet to be actually evil (or even worse than mildly annoying). And there's overlap between types, so for instance, there's only room for one active 'inquisitive, kind but inner-demon-having healer' type and while Rebecca is stubborn, Neric wins out because he can fly (sort of).

Actually, it's probably Al skewing all the others, because I rarely play him anymore. I bet he's in there hologram-style for all my other scenes, cigar and handlink in hand, looking sympathetic when my pups are mopey, cheering them on when they are flirting and making less-than-helpful comments when they screw up.

There's the problem.

If we're talking actually in my head... they don't really interact. They're not active in my head that way. I do get flashes of character reactions to ideas and conversations and so forth -- hello, character-bleed! -- but other than that I'm not aware of them in my head that way, and they certainly don't interact. They're all separate little corners of my brain.

Millicanonically... well, I try to avoid having to thread them together. *grin* This despite the fact that several of them do know each other, because I plan well.

River and Regan really should thread more, except that I am no good at RPsterbation; there are IC reasons why they don't thread much, but still. *sheepish* Anyway, they both love each other a lot, but Regan didn't really understand her daughter in some key ways before the Academy thing and understands her even less now, and they both know it. So there's a certain level of awkwardness, and distance because of it.

Piotr and River get along great. They were really fun to thread, back when I didn't play them both! Now... they still get along well when then interact, but it's offscreen unless plot demands otherwise. *grin* Piotr is kind of a big brother to the world, and River's on the list of people he's especially fond and protective of.

Edmund and Piotr had a fascinatingly awkward relationship in which they were both kind of jealous of each other over Kitty issues. It was great fun and made me headdesk affectionately at them, and I am very glad Edmund was retired before I adopted Piotr, because playing both sides of that would have hurt my head a lot.

I don't think any of the others have met, unless we get into oldschool stuff with Will and Alain. (Who met each other, and Alain knew River too, but mostly they knew of each other through their other friends for obvious reasons.) I can speculate about how they would get along, and some of them do know of each other's existence or have probably seen the other around the bar somewhere, but the issue hasn't come up in-game.
