Daily Entertainment.

Dearest Milliways folk,

I have to leave this wonderful playground. I can't tell you why, but my characters will be dispositioned as follows:

Mal Reynolds ([livejournal.com profile] bad_in_latin): Final OOMs go up tomorrow; burial to be held on the Reynolds Ranch.
Sallie Reynolds ([livejournal.com profile] realmrsreynolds): Pending permission from [livejournal.com profile] notboundnow, moving to Chicago.
Ned the Piemaker ([livejournal.com profile] notahugfan): A polite return to piemaking and Chuck.
SARAH ([livejournal.com profile] smart_house): Off to have her Great Epistolary Romance with George.

It's been swell, folken -- catch you on the flipside.

~ Steph Mu Ji, yanking your chains since 1985.

ETA: Not going anywhere. *eyes headvoices* Really not going anywhere.

Blatant quasi-selfish request: Anyone want to make me a small graphic (I am thinking 100x200 or 250?) for Milliways Public Radio? I have no specifics as to what it would look like, so you'd be pretty open on your own.

Your timing is perfect, since SUP announced that from now on, all copyrighted materials are going to be deleted from LJ. Which pretty much means the end of LJ, but what can you do?

The good news is that I plan to start my own blog site. As soon as I get willing investors. What say you, folks? If each of you gives me, say, your life savings, I can have DelJournal up and running in a matter of weeks. All investors get one free pic, up to three accounts, and all the spam you can eat.

Wait, when did this announcement go out about LJ and copyrighted material? Does that include excerpted materials posted for the purposes of discussion?

Ummmmm....check the date? (This is why I tend to post about other people's gags. Mine are never funny.)

[identity profile] kali921.livejournal.com 2008-04-01 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, dear. Well, given the recent drama all over LJ about the fear of copyrighted materials being expunged and the various threats of massive flouncing from members galore recently, none of this is funny to me, actually. (That shows you how little some of us trust SUP.)

But I did just get Rickrolled by LJ itself, which makes up for it. (http://news.livejournal.com/107460.html?nc=620) That?

Funny.

There's no need to apologize. Just because I sit here for a moment, blink, and think "holy shit, people are leaving?" doesn't mean others aren't enjoying it. :-)

...I still don't get it. :/

It's like goatse.cx, only with fewer eyes clawed out. *helpful!*

There is a kind of April Fool's Day gag that is not funny because it's too close to true. Just like there is a kind that is not funny because you wish it WERE true. Better to stick with making your virulently anti-French pirate pup speak French for a day. :)

[identity profile] kali921.livejournal.com 2008-04-01 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Is Gibbs going to or has he been force to speak French? THAT I must read.

Oui. With some volunteer help from Steph and Kate, as I think if I use an translation engine, they will kill me. Twice.

Oh, 'great'. Eljay commits suicide.

This is one of those decisions they will regret later, or they already plan to back off and pick some people as scapegoats?

See my reply to Kali.

Sorry for the confusion.

I never do well with April Fool's Day. When I was in college I almost told a roommate into the Doors that Jim Morrison was alive. But I couldn't get a straight face. He told me later he would have believed me.

I am rather glad that April Fools never took root here. Not much of a prankster, myself, and being a paranoid worrywart makes 'real-life' announcements just... worrysome.

It's hard to come up with a good name. All the really good ones are taken.

It probably actually says something that this could be taken seriously :\

Aww, see, you had a great setup there.

The trick is, if someone starts to buy into your April Fool's joke, you keep adding to it and making it more and more outlandish until they realize that there's no way in hell anything you've said can be true. Then there are laughs all 'round!

Alas I am not really good at such things. Otherwise I would have orchestrated something in the Bar.
