Entertainment without MuJi: Day One.

Please state the nature of the Entertainment Emergency
Canon Squee Post is Go
Name of canon in subject lines: skip over the ones you don't want to be spoiled for.

Alternatively: I just posted a pup into the bar for the first time in I don't know how long. Talk to me about long absences you've had, and why, and how you overcame them. Or what your pups have been up to since the last time they talked to one of mine.

How I know when I really love a movie: I come home and start writing fic within an hour. >_>

The comic is awesome! The one that I picked up is very, very dated and very, very eighties (Tony's mullet! Rhodey's flat-top! The day-glo clothing!); I liked it a lot, both despite and because of those things. I think I'm probably going to go about picking up some more of it; I've got tons of recommendations from people who Know These Things.

Whatever you do, stick to old school Rhodey.

...current Marvelverse Rhodey makes me a little sad, not because of him (he's still awesome) but what they did to him.

Let's just say, DC already has a badass black cyborg.

Marvel didn't need one too.

Oh FFS, no.

(Though I quite like Steel, from what I've read in JLA)

Oh, heck, I'm not talking about Steel. I'm talking about Cyborg.

Because Rhodey somehow is part machine now, under all the War Machine armor. How? Why? I don't think we know yet.

Maybe he FELL INTO A PIT OF LAVA.

Luckily, if he did, it did not infect him with so much rage and emo that he will now ride out and destroy the galaxy...

Thank you. Vic = awesome, James Rhodes = awesome, WHY try to mesh the two?

I would say 'maybe we'll find out', but Avengers: The Initiative is sort of a trainwreck when it comes to character arcs.

I still can't believe that this is the same writer that gave us such a great issue of The Thing playing poker with half of the Marvelverse.

Why oh why couldn't The Crew have found an audience and saved Rhodey from such things?

(Not that I quite got into The Crew. It was sorta a mess, if one that built on all the amazing things Priest did in Black Panther.)

Rhodey looks like a half-blasted Terminator now. It's not pretty.

Ahaha, dude, I am not touching current Marvelverse with a thirty-foot stick. I've got a bunch of oldschool comics, and I'm staying that way.

Even leaving my phone in the cinema and having to go back and retrieve it does not dull my omgyay at Iron Man

You've never read comics from the nineties, have you.

AHAHAHAHAHAAA.

Or, for that matter, Secret Empire, which is one of the most important storylines in Marvel history, but the eyepopping color can be a distraction from the stinging indictment of Watergate and fucking AWESOME twist at the end.

There might thus be an advantage to the Essential (and Showcase) B&W reprint books. And if you miss the color in the Showcase books, don't worry, the script ALWAYS tells you when there is something yellow stopping Hal. It's as if the writers knew the comics would be B&W someday. (I love the Silver Age but the writing was sometimes utterly amateur.)

I have not! Not besides, you know, some of the Star Wars: X-Wing stuff, which I'm pretty sure came out in the late nineties.
