Daily Entertainment.

Lots of questions today, folks:

1. Are you associated with or have you been associated with any other RPGs? Were they OCs or fandom or what? Do you mod any?
2. How in the world do some of you keep game-histories separated when playing the same character in two different games? Like, I would love to play Mal in as many games I could get him in, but then he'd start calling himself 'mu ji' and that would end badly. :(
3. Finally, has anyone ever read The Legend of Nightfall by Mickey Zucker Reichert? My co-worker lent it to me and the cover is scary. D:

ETA: *eyerolls* Silly coworkers. AFK for...at least a couple of hours.

I started out with several characters at [livejournal.com profile] theatrical_muse, but A) I sucked at keeping up with the prompts, and B) I sucked in general, so that was the end of that. I played Plourr and Maya in [livejournal.com profile] street_eden back when it was still active, and I never really had a problem telling versions of the characters apart. Of course, it helped that it was [livejournal.com profile] somanyghosts vs. [livejournal.com profile] fighting_mad, and that she was bald and angry in one game and pregnant and ... still angry, but with lots of hair! in the other, but -- I don't know; I've never had issues keeping characters separate like that. They're different games, different histories. I can't really comprehend getting them confused.

Right now, I technically play in [livejournal.com profile] shatterverse and am going to in [livejournal.com profile] outpost_12, though I fail and haven't actually posted in either yet. I'm playing Rhodey in Shatterverse and Seeley Booth from Bones in both games. I don't usually pick up unique pups, I guess! When I get fond of a character, I like playing them all over the place; it doesn't have to be just one game.

I keep telling myself that I am delaying because I want to bring him in from the comics and I want to read more of them before I do that, but that's such a lie. I'm totally not going to, and I'm only delaying because I'm lazy.

Never delay on accoutn of not having read all the comics. If I did that with Dinah, I'd never have played her anywhere.

(OMG sixty years is so many comics...)

I haven't read nearly enough of them, though, is the thing. I've got about 40 years of comics to wade through, and while I'm not crazy enough to think I'll get all of them read, I need to get through a bigger chunk than I already have, in order to feel confidant. I've only read something like 40 issues of Iron Man that he's in, along with the 20-ish issues of his solo title. There are, like, 150 more Rhodey-featuring Iron Man issues alone, not even counting in the Avengers stuff and other titles!

Just go with enough to get a handle on his character. If you accidentally Joss yourself, it's OK, because comics to that to themselves all the time!

Listen to Debi, for she is wise.

And comics history is GINORMOUS. (And full of retconning and inconsistency, so! It is surprisingly easy most of the time to be vague about certain details of history, once you've read enough to have a solid handle on the basic characterization.)

It is surprisingly easy! For me, anyway! And it helps to have pretty different continuities for the different games.
