Daily Entertainment.

What canon should be cross-overed (crossed over?) with yours, and why?

Firefly's been done with Dark Tower in Milliways, so I won't touch that. I'd like to group 'American Gods' with 'Pushing Daisies', but I can't really support that since I haven't actually read 'American Gods'. Most people who know me know I want to crossover Eureka and Iron Man like nobody's freaking business, but that comes from SARAH and JARVIS than anything else. Hmmm...The Illusionist is difficult. I don't know what I would choose! Any ideas?

ETA: Ugh. Work. Back...hopefully sometime before the tenth o' never.

YA: Young Juuuuustice. Now plz.

Captain America in general, not really 1602-specific: Dr. Who. Pre-series Jack/WWII Steve. Search it in your heart, you know it to be true.

and by true, of course, I mean 'hot and ooc.' But that's what crossovers are for!

Seriously, that one episode where they go to the opera? Iz musical episode. Arnold sings and dances with Helga. It's the perfect opportunity.

The Illusionist and Mairelon the Magician! Obvs. >.> Except for, y'know, how that wouldn't work at all, with the illusion vs. actual omg magic thing.

I have always harbored a not-so-secret desire to cross the Young Wizards and Doctor Who 'verses, because Diane Duane cameoed the Doctor in High Wizardry because she's an enormous geek, but the logistics of New Who in particular make that infeasible. Alas. (May as well throw the Star Trek 'verse in there, too -- Diane Duane mentioned the Song of the Twelve in Dark Mirror, and has used Trek aliens in the YW books. *ruffles her hair* Again, logistics are not so much on our side, but I can dream.)

I also harbor secret desires of a YW/Buffy-verse crossover even though it would make NO sense whatsoever.

Okay, YA? I am currently writing a crossover fic with Star Wars, pre-prequel trilogy. Because all the abilities and personalities easily analogue with a place inside the universe (Billy as a Jedi, Kate as a Jedi-friendly bounty hunter, etc.), and the Skrull Empire wouldn't be amiss floating around in the Outer Rim, or even the Unknown Regions.

Half-Life... is harder. I suppose that Eureka would actually be hilarious, like, say... a portal storm dropping everyone in the middle of the city. It would be golden! Or, since the creators have already kind-of done it, LOST!

Dr. John Vattic as a psychic Macgyver would be funny, but I totally have to credit Cam with putting that in a thread he did with Gordon. ACTUALLY. Going off what I know about the Illusionist, stuffing John in period attire as one of Eisenheim's rivals would be neat. They could be cold and logical at each other, or something. (It's John's SRS BSNS face.)

Team Fortress 2... might be interesting when crossed over with something even older-timey, like Oregon Trail, or with a reality show like Big Brother.

I would also like to cross over Monday with Sunday, in that way where it's Monday, but I only have to do the things I do on Sundays, like not go to work.

Hmmm.

Is there a way to cross over the 1989 and current Batman films? Knox in the present day films could be interesting. Or a total flop.

I think we need lots more DC-Marvel crossovers, since there hasn't been a really good one in canon in ages. And I think that The Question is one of the few DC pups who would do well in the darker Marvel universe for a while.

I don't need to ask the gods of crossover for anything else.

Milliways has already provided the Lunar/Harry Potter crossover I've dreamed of ever since I started reading the books. In ways I never imagined, but still.

I've pondered a Lunar/Slayers crossover, and that happened too when Zelgadiss went to Damon's Spire here.

Those three were the big, funny-yet-serious fantasies I've been devoted to and complete the triumvirate of video games, books, and television.

I haven't managed to get through enough canon in the Bar to make it obvious yet, but every time I watch it I become more and more certain that Mai-HiME is part of the Dark Tower multiverse.

Thankfully, the DT muns in M'ways have so far put up with it when I've asked if crossing the two over is acceptable.

I was really sad that I was too busy to participate in the giant HL2 plot, because the Childs in Mai-HiME resemble Combine-style biotech mashups closely enough that both sides would've probably WTFed at each other for a bit, and having played HL2 I'd gladly take any chance I can get to make the Combine void their technologically-enhanced bowels. And because I really wanted to play out the mental image of Kagutsuchi vs. a Strider. I haven't gotten Mai to the point in canon where she uses him frequently enough to make that sort of thing possible, either, though, so it was kind of a double suck there.

[livejournal.com profile] foozled_up, [livejournal.com profile] kitsune_rin and myself have also done a terrible horrible thing and connected - via timeline hijinks and the fact that one of the universes in question is a canonical multiverse - the series Air Gear, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Guilty Gear, and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Chiefly because the Air Treck of AG resemble several variant Intelligent Devices from MGLN, the Gears of GG have strong ties to the development of humanoid mechanism technology in MGLN and the Gravity Children of AG, and the Box Weapons and Ghola units of KHR! do the same. There are also stronger and more amusing thematic similarities going on, but the chief justification was that the tech levels were similar enough that they could conceivably take place in the same universe - just at different times in the timeline. Most of these connections aren't things that the characters would be aware of in-universe - but it keeps the people behind the curtain amused, and we do have some long-term plans in regards to that shaping the direction of a few plots eventually.

Yes, it's crazy, and probably requires a fair bit of fanwankery on our parts, but the point was that the fanwanking wasn't that hard to come up with, and it was fun.

>_> I'd rather love to take Laini's canon (Mercedes Lackey's SERRAted Edge series, set in the same 'verse as her Firebird and The Black Swan) and cross them over with something- 'Earthside' works for any sort of 'normal' Earth, since all the magic is rather hidden from the normal humans.

Alas, none spring to mind, but its rather amusing to have the threat of the possibility of her being able to show up anywhere.

A&E's Horatio Hornblower series, (Wellard's canon) is crossed over with Pirates of the Carribean, The Dark is Rising, Sharpe, and the Vorkosigan series, I do believe. There were a lot of little connections made among those, and then I finally went "hey, if a=b=c=d, then a=d!". Weeee.

(Yeah, Vida, you're a helper. That, however... not so helpful. XD)

Elsegame, we're noodling with Iron Man/Ender's Game, thanks to similar complexities of Jarvis and Jane. (Also, you know Stark Industries would design battleschool.)

And... not so much that it should be official by any stretch of the imagination, but I wrote Harry Potter/Sneakers. (Yes. Yes, I am crazy.) Part of it was me processing my Deathly Hallows issues with the help of characters who were just as frustrated by the stupidity as I was.

Teja always thinks his world is linear, rational, and a precursor to the magic-free, legend free versions of earth. In fact, it is far from the historical truth in several important points, and peppered with myths and legends, even before we get to Teja's own premonitions that always come true...

I tend to think it would be great fun to have a backstory fic or OOM where alive!Teja meets one of the deities he will later befriend in Milliways, and has no idea who that is.-

Turtle Canon Crossovers:

- HP Lovecraft
- Greek/Roman/Egyptian Gods
- Image Universe
- Flaming Carrot/Mystery Men universe
- Usagi Yojimbo

Back in the day there was talk about crossing over the Gargoyles and Turtle universes, though nothing ever came of it.

Me personally? I'd love to see a SuperNatural-Turtle cross over. There are werewolves and ghosts and all manner of things that go bump in the night in the Turtle universe. Ooooh and rock salt guns.

Actually, now that I think on it HellBoy has the same sort of feel to it as well.

Through the Sherwood plot, there's been rather massive crossover with many different canons but I'm not terribly awake and am forgetting them.

I think Narnia would actually crossover well and quietly with some, I sort of have it doing a not really crossover with the Greek myths just because it makes sense in my head.

Else game I'm discovering that Changeling and HP work really well together, which makes me smile.

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I discovered during the year before last's NaNo that Digimon is like the little black dress of canons - It goes with anything, providing it's a canon that is more technology based than magic. Not actually one of my canons, as I have no pups from it, but I did cross it over with Star Wars.

[identity profile] remindmeofthe.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I love canons like that. Others include Supernatural (which crosses with any universe that doesn't already have its own set of rules governing, uh, the supernatural) and the Whoniverse. Jack's timeline in particular is handy for crossing with canons set earlier in the twentieth century.

I was attempting to write a Dark Knight/The Fix crossover before I even apped Cal. (You know what's weird? Going back and reading fic you wrote about your pup before he became your pup.) It's eerie how much sense everything suddenly makes if one just assumes the Chandlers are based out of Gotham City. I'm still hoping to get a full-fledged fic out of it.

In Milliways news, I was so happy when the Joker showed up in Milliways. XD The thread I got out of that was about eight billion times better than what I'd written.

I think pretty much any U.S.-set canon that has a basis in the real world but with a fantasy twist would be really cool to cross over with 24 (ie. Young Wizards, X-Files, Supernatural, etc.). The main problem with those would be the fat that beyond 2004, US history takes a very different path in the 24-verse than real life, though that probably depends how much the other canon mentions RL events or how much you're willing to make up.

I also think it'd be hilarious fun to have Jack and Richard Sharpe team up in Sharpe's time. Jack can bring the weapons. :D

Oooh, and same goes for the Young Guns-verse. :D
Edited 2008-10-13 21:24 (UTC)

[identity profile] moofoot.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a general agreement that we've been playing that Young Guns is set in the same world as 3:10 to Yuma (just later since Yuma is dated 1865 and Young Guns is 1878 and Young Guns 2 is 1880) and it's easy enough since everyone is kind of historical. I actually have written it (http://moofoot.livejournal.com/520587.html) too.

Ironically, with my new pup from Appaloosa, he's set in New Mexico in 1882 (and Viggo played the man who shot Doc in YG2 for bonus LULZ) but I'm not sure if I'd want to cross that over, Doc might protest.

Umm...

Other canon wise? Nothing would really mesh up with Ice Age but it would be fun to cross something over with Three Musketeers.
